ServerPlex Engages Green Initiative
San Francisco, California – (The Hosting News) – July 13, 2007 – Integrated web hosting, design and technology solutions firm, ServerPlex Networks, will replace its fleet of onsite vehicles with new, more fuel efficient alternatives, in an effort to better support environmental protection initiatives.
Currently, the company maintains a fleet of 23 Mini Coopers, each averaging approximately 25 miles per gallon of gasoline in city driving. By replacing the entire fleet with Toyota Prius hybrid vehicles, ServerPlex Onsite hopes to average approximately 50 miles per gallon, thereby reducing its fuel usage by about half annually.
The transition will cost the company about $250,000 over the course of a year. Once the new vehicles are fully implemented, ServerPlex Onsite anticipates significant savings in fuel costs.

In addition to the new vehicles, the company will also reduce its energy use by converting its paper files to electronic versions through document imaging technology. With the conversion, the company expects to use about half of the paper it is currently using.
