PowWeb claims to utilize load balancing technology. When applied, this technology has the potential to eliminate single points of failure, thus resulting in a more reliable web site. The use of the “grid” makes it so a single server can have a problem without it affecting the web sites on the server.

PowWeb prides itself on its “one plan, one price” mantra. The plan costs $5.77 per month and has no setup fees if you decide to signup for two years. The minimum contract length (3 months) is $7.77 per month with a $30 setup fee.

The one plan includes more than enough space and bandwidth for any web site and makes use of PowWeb’s load balanced technology. Other nice features include with the plan are:

• Script Instant Installer (which PowWeb says is better than Fantastico)
• Free domain name included
• Easy to use site builder

There are plenty of support options at PowWeb. They have 24/7 email, phone, and live chat support. Their community forum has more than 20,000 members. There are lots of tutorials and helpful knowledge base articles for customers to browse and learn.

In addition to regular web hosting, PowWeb offers exchange hosting, which is fairly pricey ($12.95 per month for a 500 MB email account). Other services offered by the company include marketing services and e-commerce services (credit card processing, etc).

PowWeb is a typical budget web hosting provider. They offer fairly good hosting at a reasonable price. If they can really deliver with their load balancing service, the company has the potential to really deliver a superior web hosting service.
