Hostway Unveils Content Delivery Upgrades

London, United Kingdom - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - April 2, 2008 - Web hosting, managed technology and online services company, Hostway Corporation, has launched a content delivery network (CDN) that intelligently routes user web traffic to the closest geographically located server.

Hostway aims to improve user experience of the Internet by directing traffic to its customer websites to the nearest, and consequently best-performing web server. By using a number of Foundry ServerIron 4G switches, Hostway can route users to the server nearest to their location, ensuring that content is tailored to the user’s location and providing valuable business continuity and redirection services.

David Foxley, Enterprise Technology Manager, Hostway UK noted, ”Almost all large companies have their website accessible on a number of servers around the world, but traffic to these servers is rarely intelligently routed. For example, British customers logging onto a global concert ticketing site could be delayed by waiting for data to travel across the transatlantic link, instead of being redirected to the UK site, which might mean that customers do not get the seats they want, or worse still, miss out on a certain gig date.”

With increasing numbers of companies storing large images, videos and other rich content on their websites, it is important that they load as quickly as possible and do not have a negative effect on user experience. Accessing a website in Sydney from a PC in London, for example, can have a considerable effect on how quickly images load. By using the CDN, Hostway can ensure that all content loads as quickly as possible, by storing it as close to the user as possible.

The CDN can also detect whether any of the servers in the network have failed, and redirect users to the next best performing server, giving companies the assurance that even in the event of server failure, their users will still have the best possible experience, providing a level of business continuity.

Mr. Foxley added, ”Although broadband speeds are accelerating, user experience is frequently far from optimal. However, this isn’t always down to connection speed - a great deal depends on the hosting environment and website itself. By introducing the content delivery network, we hope to give our customers a competitive edge by ensuring that their websites always load as quickly as possible and provide the best possible experience.”

Founded in 1998, Hostway Corporation is one of the three largest web hosting companies in the world with a direct presence in 11 countries, 15 worldwide operation centres, and more than 700 employees. Serving customers both small and large, Hostway combines best of breed hosting infrastructure with online tools to help customers broaden reach and grow businesses online. Hostway offers a wide range of managed hosting services ranging from Windows and Linux based shared hosting plans, to complete dedicated server and Enterprise managed solutions to now over 600,000 customers worldwide. 1 and 1 Engages NetIron XMR Multi-Service

Santa Clara, California - (The Hosting News) - January 24, 2008 - Webhosting company, and subsidiary of United Internet, 1 and 1 Internet, is supported by Foundry Networks, Inc., with its installation of the NetIron XMR 4000 backbone routers, to power the network for scalable growth and allow for significant capital and operating expenditure savings.

During the planning phase of this major backbone upgrade, 1 and 1 chose Foundry’s NetIron XMR 4000 for its port density and performance, while also offering compelling economies of scale and long-term investment protection. 1 and 1 initially installed the NetIron XMR routers in the European part of the backbone and after successful results expanded the installation to the Kansas City Metropolitan Area Network (MAN).

Due to the large scale, 1 and 1 is running its own transcontinental Wide Area Network (WAN) - which differentiates the company from other web hosting firms. On the equipment side, backbone routers of multiple vendors are used to ensure maximum redundancy, reliability and security. On the network structure side, two independent ring systems in Europe and the United States are connected redundantly via two transatlantic connections and grant access to more than 400 other providers via 700 BGP routing sessions.

To meet consumer and business customers’ expectations for fast and reliable services, 1 and 1 is continuously optimizing its network. To preserve market leadership and provide next generation services, the European WAN network, which originally consisted of a SDH topology with a bandwidth of 2.5 GB/sec, is now upgraded to connections consisting of single or even multiple 10 gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) channels. This ensures that 1 and 1’s future network increases as web hosting continues to grow.

The new Lenexa Data Center has the capacity for more than 40,000 servers and enables 1 and 1 to support rapid customer growth in the United States. The data center is linked to 1 and 1’s own 10GbE Kansas City metro ring to continue offering a high level of product and providing more than 99.99% uptime. The addition of Foundry routers gives 1 and 1 hosting users the advantage of heightened security and the next generation of technology enabling industry leading performance.

1 and 1 Internet has reported extensive growth as one of the world’s largest and fastest growing web hosts. According to independent studies, 1 and 1 hosts almost 2.6 million active web sites and has 9.1 million domains registered. 1 and 1’s global community is 7.07 million customers strong. Expanding globally, 1 and 1 is already one of the United States’ top five service providers. The data transfer rate of business and consumer Web sites hosted is nearly 6.5 petabytes per month.

Andreas Gauger, Chairman for 1 and 1 Internet remarked, ”The reason for the increasing popularity of 1 and 1’s web hosting service, besides affordability, is the industry leading performance and reliability. To maintain this advantage, we are constantly implementing technologies to improve our customers’ experience. After thoroughly analyzing competing products, we are convinced that Foundry’s NetIron XMR Series routers provide us with the upgrade path and feature set that allows future bandwidth growth and a high level of performance.”

Ken Cheng, Vice President and General Manager for Foundry’s High-End and Service Provider Systems Business Unit noted, ”We are very pleased that 1 and 1 Internet has chosen the NetIron XMR backbone routers to power their global Web hosting and service provider network. Performance, reliability and scalability are crucial elements in accommodating future network expansion. Using Foundry’s class-leading routers, 1 and 1 is well prepared for this growth and poised to take advantage of market opportunities as the world’s largest and fastest growing Web host.”

Foundry Networks, Inc. is a provider of high-performance enterprise and service provider switching, routing, security and web traffic management solutions, including Layer 2/3 LAN switches, Layer 3 Backbone switches, Layer 4-7 application switches, wireless LAN and access points, metro and core routers. Foundry’s customers include the world’s premier ISPs, metro service providers, and enterprises, including e-commerce sites, universities, entertainment, health and wellness, government, financial and manufacturing companies.

1 and 1 Internet Inc. is a subsidiary of United Internet, a profitable public company with a market cap of $4 billion and over 3,500 employees. 1 and 1 was established in 1992 and hosts more than 9 million domain names, while more than 40,000 servers run on the company’s five data centers. 1 and 1’s global community is over 6.8 million customer contracts strong. The company’s U.S. headquarters is located in Chesterbrook, PA. 1 and 1 features an array of services, from instant domain packages to all-inclusive shared hosting plans, dedicated servers and ready-to-run eShops. 1 and 1 is a Microsoft Joint Development Partner, and works with other paramount companies such as Google, Plesk, Symantec, and HP/Compaq.

Network Expanded, at 1&1 Internet

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - (Website Hosting Directory) - January 22, 2008 - Webhosting company, and subsidiary of United Internet, 1 and 1 Internet, has completed a comprehensive extension of its wide area network (WAN), with an overall bandwidth of more than 120 Gigabit per second.

For the first time, 1 and 1 is connected directly to a large Internet Exchange point outside of Europe at Equinix in Chicago. The development means that the external connectivity of the world’s largest web host has tripled over the past twelve months.

Andreas Gauger, Chairman of the Board, 1 and 1 Internet Inc., noted, ”With the upgrade of our Internet bandwidth, our millions of web hosting customers in Europe and the U.S. can be sure that their content will reach Internet users worldwide even faster and more reliably. As a result of multimedia applications like video streaming, the demand for bandwidth has grown enormously over the last few years.”

The data volume transmitted from 1 and 1’s data centers has in fact nearly doubled over the past year from 3,500 Terabytes (3.5 million Gigabytes) in January 2007, to 6,500 Terabytes in December 2007.

Mr. Gauger added, ”The continuous upgrade of 1 and 1’s data network shows that despite pessimistic forecasts from some, the boundaries of Internet growth have not yet been reached.”

In November, U.S. research company, Nemertes, warned in a well known study that Internet infrastructure might no longer supply the growing demands of private and business users over the next 3 to 5 years. With its latest network upgrades and further measures planned for 2008, 1 and 1 feels well prepared for continuously growing demand.

Over the next year, 1 and 1 will focus on extending its U.S. network. In Chicago, at Equinix, 1 and 1 is for the first time connected to a large Internet Exchange point outside of Europe. In March, 1 and 1 will more than double the external connectivity of its Lenexa, Kansas data center. With more than 600,000 customers, 1 and 1 is presently the fifth-largest web host in the U.S. market.

Besides the upgrade of its wide area network, 1 and 1 has also made changes to its underlying technology. Instead of SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy), now Ethernet technology - well-known from corporate and home networks - is being utilized.

Mr. Gauger added, ”Ethernet can be handled more easily, and by switching to powerful routers from U.S. based manufacturer Foundry Networks, we can even save money. 1 and 1 benefits from an additional cost saving potential through the network extension, as data streams can be distributed optimally through new peerings and routing alternatives.”

1 and 1 was established in 1988 and hosts more than 9 million domain names, with over 7 million customer contracts, 9 million domains and 81 million email accounts.

Bank Chooses Earthlink’s New Edge

Merced, California - (Website Hosting Directory) - November 5, 2007 - Wholly owned subsidiary of EarthLink Inc., New Edge Networks, has been selected by County Bank, to extend its MPLS Network, for the student-operated branch at an area high school.

A student-run County Bank branch at a high school in Fresno, Calif., is among the almost 45 community bank sites that will be connected to a new MPLS network powered by New Edge Networks, a unit of EarthLink Inc. (NASDAQ:ELNK). County Bank, the principal subsidiary of Capital Corp. of the West (NASDAQ:CCOW), is strategically using new network technology and innovative community outreach for maintaining its leadership position in Central and Northern California.

Greg Griffiths, Vice President of Marketing for New Edge Networks, a wholly owned subsidiary of Atlanta-based EarthLink Inc. noted, ”MPLS (short for Multi Protocol Label Switching) technology provides high flexibility, reliability, availability, and substantial savings on monthly communications fees.”

By extending its MPLS network to the student-run branch office at McLane High School, County Bank is reinforcing its community commitment and fostering financial literacy among students and their families. First in California, the fully functioning, student-run County Bank branch opened for business this school year for students, parents, and faculty. Incoming senior students were selected before the start of the school year to run all branch operations with direction from a County Bank supervisor.

County Bank is upgrading its wide area network from one based on frame relay technology to new MPLS. It awarded New Edge a three-year contract. County Bank’s MPLS network is expected to be fully operational by the end of the November.

Anthony F. Salas, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for County Bank based in Merced, Calif. added, ”For us, upgrading from frame relay to MPLS was a no-brainer decision. New Edge proposed a fairly seamless migration to MPLS by using existing lines, existing routers, and existing interfaces versus ripping everything out and starting all over again. We have been very happy with New Edge; the support has been very good, very reliable.”

County Bank recently announced the acquisition of 11 branches from National Bank of Arizona’s California Stockman’s Bank and almost doubled its transmission speeds for about the same monthly cost of the legacy frame relay network. MPLS provides guaranteed bandwidth availability and a class-of-service feature for prioritizing voice and data traffic over the network, optimizing bandwidth utilization.

Mr. Griffiths added, ”New Edge designs MPLS network solutions that provide the same levels of features and capabilities previously affordable only by the largest enterprises. The support model we use helps ensure we can provide the highest level of attention that our customers need to operate efficiently and profitably.”

County Bank is using its network for all banking transactions and enabling any branch office or service center to communicate with any other branch. This eliminates the need to funnel all bank data traffic through a single location, eliminating a single point of failure. County Bank also is initiating VoIP telephony to cut long-distance calling charges and improve efficiency.

Mr. Salas added, ”With the proliferation of applications that are running over our network, class of service is certainly one feature we are going to take advantage of.”

County Bank, the primary subsidiary of Capital Corp of the West (NASDAQ:CCOW), is Northern California’s leading community bank. County Bank currently has 30 branches with an additional 11 branches being added later this year and three service centers. According to the latest FDIC data, County Bank has a 7.5% market share in the six Central California counties in which it has significant retail branches. This ranks County Bank fifth among thirty-seven financial institutions in this market area.

New Edge Networks, based in Vancouver, Washington, is a wholly owned subsidiary of EarthLink Inc. (NASDQ: ELNK). New Edge Networks builds and manages private networks for businesses and communications providers. Through its nationwide backbone network with about 900 switches and Internet routers, New Edge Networks uses any blend of access technologies (xDSL, frame relay, ATM, cable, wireless, and satellite) for providing broadband connectivity at any business address in the United States. Network options include any combination of access, network management functions, and on-site installation services.

HACKER SAFE ensures that any website displaying its Scan Alert Hacker Safe seal has no vulnerabilities and is PCI compliant. Dan Richfield, President and C.E.O. of Easy CGI explained, ”Easy CGI has always been dedicated to providing a secure network for its customers. Being a part of the HACKER SAFE network is a logical step in our mission to provide a secure platform for our customers to conduct their online ventures.”

HACKER SAFE Enterprise is designed to enable organizations to significantly reduce risk by providing a fully managed, proactive solution to discover and remediate network vulnerabilities on a continuous basis. Along with being the largest web site security certification service in the world, ScanAlert has made itself into the industry standard for security.

Since the company’s founding in 2001, ScanAlert’s HACKER SAFE certification service has become the world’s most viewed web site security trustmark. The company’s patent pending security technology is used by over 75,000 web sites, including over half of the Internet Retailer Top 500, to protect them from hackers and certify their security to their customers and business partners. The world’s largest provider of PCI compliance services, ScanAlert operates validation programs, through partners such as Visa International, the Council of Better Business Bureaus and CyberSource, to manage the enrolment of more than 150,000 merchants and payment service providers in over 70 countries.

Easy CGI recently also premiered a free domain privacy feature, which clients may activate for any domain registered through the Easy CGI Domain Registrar, a feature which is customarily fee-based. Easy CGI’s Domain Privacy Feature is designed to keep personal information from public exposure in WHOIS databases, preventing spam, unwanted phone calls and other unnecessary aggravation. The Easy CGI customer will retain full ownership and control of the domain. Domain registration information, including the Administrative, Billing and Technical contacts, are simply masked with generic contact information within public WHOIS databases. Requests to contact the domain owner are filtered and forwarded to the customer.

Having earned the Better Business Bureau Reliability Seal, Easy CGI’s 30 Day Money Back Guarantee and 99.9% Uptime Guarantee gives consumers a risk free offer that is backed by the Better Business Bureau.

Easy CGI has been in the web hosting industry since 1994, offering technology, cost effective, efficient solutions and customer service.
