GoDaddy Gives $50K to Humane Society

Scottsdale, Arizona - (Website Hosting Directory) - August 6, 2008 - The Arizona animal rescue effort, was recently given a $50,000 donation, for the Humane Society’s annual telethon, by web hosting domain registrar, GoDaddy.

Go Daddy also used its expertise to organize online donations, helped answer phones and kept the live event’s Web site running smoothly. If you watched the telethon you know Go Daddy donated in ‘GoDaddy-esque’ style too - having their CEO’s own dogs deliver the donation on live television.

Bob Parsons, CEO and Founder of Go Daddy noted, ”Max and Chief are quite the dynamic duo.”

This is the third consecutive year Go Daddy co-sponsored the telethon to help animals.

Tim Crum, Executive Director of the Arizona Humane Society remarked, ”Members of our organization are still talking about what a huge help Go Daddy was to us from the start. One year, Go Daddy jumped in to save the telethon’s online component, the next year they helped to significantly increase our online contributions and this year they helped us reach our goal in donations.”

While many companies are cutting back resources these days, Go Daddy is expanding its workforce, recorded an Internet-first for number of domain name registrations and made more charitable donations already this year than last.

In 2008, Go Daddy has helped disadvantaged children, Parkinson’s research, domestic violence victims, homeless teenagers, flood victims and now abandoned pets, which might otherwise have to be euthanized.
In a typical year, the Arizona Humane Society shelters nearly 50,000 animals. The annual telethon not only raises much needed money for these animals, but also provides educational programs, including how to better care for your pet, fight animal cruelty and adopt a pet.

GoDaddy Reaches 30 Million Domains

Scottsdale, Arizona - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - June 26, 2008 - Web hosting domain registrar, GoDaddy, with domain name RulesOfSaving.com, has marked a historic milestone and an industry record, of 30 million domain names.

While reports of a wavering economy and surging oil prices dominate the news, this Internet-first reflects thriving conditions on the Web and at GoDaddy.com. More and more people and businesses are moving to establish their own space on the Internet.

Go Daddy is registering, renewing and transferring names used for Web site addresses to the tune of about one every second of every day. This flies in the face of critics who, years ago, suggested the surge to register domain names was all but over.

Bob Parsons, CEO and Founder at Go Daddy explained, ”These numbers really demonstrate how the Internet is alive and well, even in these rough financial times. We knew from the start, helping make it easy and affordable for people to get online would make a difference. That’s why we developed products our customers wanted, priced them right and then backed them up with personal customer service… and, well the rest is history.”

Go Daddy is also racking up substantial e-commerce numbers, which align with industry analyst predictions. Forrester Research forecasts online spending in 2008 will increase by 17 percent. Go Daddy expects even higher numbers. The Web leader’s Quick Shopping Cart is a key e-commerce tool because it makes setting up an online store easy and affordable. Projections, based on recent months, indicate a 72 percent increase this year over last, in terms of revenue generated by customers with Quick Shopping Cart enabled Web sites.

Ironically, the 30 millionth domain name, RulesOfSaving.com, could be viewed as a sign of times, as far as the struggling U.S. economy or as a nod to Go Daddy’s low price points. While many registrars charge more than Go Daddy, some have even raised prices in recent days.

Go Daddy has a 45 percent market share of active, new domain names and is nearly three times the size of its closest competitor. Go Daddy is also one of the world’s leading providers when it comes to Web hosting and SSL certificates, which are used to keep online transactions secure.

Go Daddy has expanded its workforce to keep up with its rapid growth, its four offices including one in Arizona, and one each in Colorado, Iowa and Washington, D.C.

While many companies are looking for ways to cut back, Go Daddy is hiring more and more employees. Go Daddy now employs more than two-thousand people, which is up about 33 percent in fewer than three years. Go Daddy is known as an employer that takes care of its own too, having been honored as one of the Best Places to Work for four consecutive years.

”This is not your average corporate communication, nor is it your typical message ‘canned for a Chief Executive Officer representing a world leading company - No, www.BobParsons.tv is an in-your-face, tell-it-like-it-is video blog used to speak directly to customers, employees and even the media. It’s blunt, it’s unvarnished, even irreverent and it’s out there for anyone to see,” proclaims information released by the company.

Go Daddy’s CEO and Founder recently unveiled his latest venture into new media with www.BobParsons.tv, featuring Mr. Parsons’ commentary, invites criticism and addresses topics ranging from Internet industry issues, to business decisions, company controversies or relevant subjects in the news with the help of video clips and other multimedia elements.

Mr. Parsons explained, ”Nobody can speak for me or communicate my thoughts like I do, right? It may be a little rough around the edges and it keeps our legal department on their toes, but posting a video blog, or vlog, is one of the best ways to ensure my message isn’t diluted, convoluted or.. muted.”

Few business leaders provide transparent messages or understand the importance of embracing new technology. Some critics have even questioned the wisdom of letting an executive speak off the cuff and public relation professionals might scoff at publishing an unfiltered message but Parsons sees true value in putting his views ‘on the record.’

In a recent book on blogging, Radically Transparent: Monitoring and Managing Reputations Online, authors Andy Beal and Dr. Judy Strauss write ”Bob Parsons’ blogging efforts exemplify a radically transparent CEO understands that blogging provides an open and honest connection.”

Mr. Parsons is often referred to as an Internet industry watchdog. His vlog is interactive on all topics - he not only writes it, he personally responds to the reader comments. His original blog, ”Hot Points,” repeatedly ranked as the top CEO blog in the world. The self-taught computer programmer started writing on the Web in late 2004 and used it as a venue for addressing speculation surrounding the company’s first Super Bowl commercial - an ad that eventually triggered a censorship controversy now referenced in marketing textbooks.

Mr. Parsons added, ”It’s just time to try something new. Let’s face it, Web video is already huge - and it’s only going to get bigger.”

This new version also has a new address, using the catchy .TV domain extension. .TV has emerged as a powerful marketing tool and a valuable extension for publishing and viewing video content. As online video continues its rise to Web 2.0 prominence, more and more users have come to rely on .TV domains for their ”daily fix” of web video.

Mr. Parsons concluded, ”We chose the .TV extension for the video blog because it’s the natural home for web video. Dot-TV provides the right platform for marketing, viral video, and entertainment platforms for businesses and people seeking to leverage new media.”

GoDaddy Powers Tipping Point SSL

Scottsdale, Arizona - (Website Hosting Directory) - April 28, 2008 - Web hosting domain registrar, Go Daddy, has been selected by intrusion prevention company,TippingPoint, for its SSL Certificate solution.

The new agreement underscores each company’s commitment to safeguarding data and combating cyber crime through the implementation of the most stringent security standards.

An SSL Certificate, which enables a browser and server to establish a secure, encrypted connection, is the de facto standard for protecting sensitive information from identity theft, hacking and tampering. Businesses, for example, rely on SSL Certificates to thwart hackers from accessing credit card information during online transactions.

James Hamilton, President at TippingPoint noted, ”Both TippingPoint and GoDaddy.com know network security is of paramount importance. The combination of product, price and service made GoDaddy.com SSL Certificates an obvious choice for our networks.”

GoDaddy.com has seen its SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) business jump a dramatic 83 percent in the last 16 months. The company, which first started providing the secure certificates in March 2004, is the world’s second largest Certification Authority, according to Netcraft, Ltd.

Bob Parsons, CEO and Founder of GoDaddy.com noted, ”GoDaddy.com’s SSL Certs provide IT administrators an easy and cost effective way to protect their networks. It just makes sense for a company as committed to online security as TippingPoint to recognize the advantage - our customers get the same functionality, stringent vetting standards and reliability as any other cert in the industry. The difference is GoDaddy.com SSL certs cost a fraction of the price.”

GoDaddy.com offers SSL Certificates with three assurance validation levels: Standard, Deluxe and Premium with Extended Validation. All Go Daddy certificates offer up to 256-bit encryption and are backed with 24/7 customer support.
