Host Gator Ranks at Inc 5000

Houston, Texas - (The Hosting News) - August 25, 2008 - Shared, dedicated and reseller web hosting firm, Host Gator, has been ranked by Inc.com, as the 21st fastest-growing private company in the country, on its Inc 5000 list.

Brent Oxley, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of HostGator remarked, ”I started the company with a $1,000 budget from my dorm room in Boca Raton, FL. Today the owners of more than 1.3 million websites depend on our hosting service. We are extremely proud of our strong past growth, but we’re really only getting started.” Mr. Oxley, who turned 25 in March, attributes the growth of the company to its commitment to customer service and dedication to providing customers with the best web hosting experience in the hosting industry.

The 2008 Inc. 5000 list measures revenue growth from 2004 through 2007. To qualify, companies must be U.S.-based and privately held, for profit, independent - not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies - as of December 31, 2007, and have had at least $200,000 in revenue in 2004, and $2 million in 2007.

HostGator revenue grew by 5297% during the measured period. In addition to being ranked #21 overall, HostGator was also ranked #1 for growth in the Houston metro, #2 for growth in the Business Services category, and #1 for growth within the state of Texas.

The Houston-based company had revenues of $18,700,000 in 2007 compared to revenues of $326,000 in 2004 and projects revenues over the next 12 months will reach $50,000,000. Since moving to Houston in 2006, HostGator has created over 155 positions for highly skilled technicians and systems administrators. It recently completed renovations to accommodate a large increase in hiring activity and expects to add at least 100 new employees in Houston over the next few months.

In January, after reporting a successful fiscal year, has given gifts to support cancer fighting initiatives, while promoting education in underdeveloped countries.

The company gave $100,000 to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, and $25,000 to One Laptop per Child. The gifts were decided upon by HostGator management and staff, including a significant contribution to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

In addition. HostGator donated to the international organization, One Laptop Per Child. The Anderson Cancer Center received a gift of $100,000 and One Laptop per Child received $25,000. The goal of One Laptop per Child is spelled out in its name: to improve the educational opportunities for children in underdeveloped regions by giving every child access to an inexpensive, durable, web-capable laptop. At $100 each, the gift from HostGator should provide at least 250 laptops.

The gift to One Laptop per Child was another easy decision, according to Mr. Oxley, ”If it wasn’t for the internet and computers we wouldn’t be in business. If just one of the kids can further their knowledge in computers and make a career out of it, in some shape or form, it will have been worth every penny.”

At Anderson, one of the country’s largest cancer treatment centers, HostGator’s gift will go to support a variety of programs — from research and clinical trials, to education, counseling and treatments. Mr. Oxley says as HostGator continues to grow and earn profits, it will continue increasing the amount of its annual gifts.

Inc.com, the daily resource for entrepreneurs, delivers how-to guides, advice, tools, breaking news, and rich multi-media to help business owners and CEOs start, run, and grow their businesses. Inc.com offers dynamic marketing solutions to help advertisers effectively reach Inc.com’s audience of business leaders.

iWeb Group Network Expands

Quebec, Canada - (The Hosting News) - August 22, 2008 - Internet hosting infrastructure provider, iWeb Group Inc. and subsidiary of iWeb Technologies, will soon be completing its network expansion, to upgrade total network capacity to 15Gbps.

While adding three new carriers, the addition of these three new transit providers will mean better diversity, redundancy and reachability for all our customers and partners.

The following new carriers will be added to iWeb’s Network:

- T-Systems / Deutsche Telekom (In production)
- 3Men@Work / Bell Peering (In production)
- Level 3 Communications (Coming at the end of August)

With the additional transit providers, iWeb will be directly linked to more networks which will result in connections being more direct and more efficient for all customers. These additions will affect mostly the High Quality Network customers, but will also enhance incoming routes for its Redundant Unmetered Network customers; while also providing additional redundancy.

The Unmetered Network upgrade includes additional Cogent Bandwidth.
Once all the upgrades will be completed, iWeb’s network will have a total network capacity of 15 Gbps dedicated to hosting services. The High-Quality Network and incoming routes will combine the networks of 7 carriers for a total of 11 Gbps, while the Redundant Unmetered Network (Cogent-based) now totals 4 Gbps. It is important to note that each part of iWeb’s network (High Quality and Unmetered) is configured to backup the other if necessary and that customers of both networks benefit from all available routes for incoming traffic.

Below is complete list of its network composition:
- 3 Gbps with Videotron Telecom
- 3 Gbps with Tata Communications, formerly Teleglobe
- 4 Gbps with Cogent Communications (Unmetered Network)
- 1 Gbps with Peer1 Network
- 1 Gbps with Priority Colo (TorIX peering)
- 1 Gbps with Level 3 Communications (Coming at the end of August)
- 1 Gbps from 3 Men @ Work (Bell peering)
- 1 Gbps from T-Systems / Deutsche Telekom

iWeb’s first telecom link, back in 2000, was a 100 Mbps link, which had less than 1% of the capacity offered to iWeb customers currently. In the next few months, the company also expects to upgrade its main transit providers to 10Gbps.

Earlier this summer, the company attained ranking among Profit Magazine’s top 100 Canadian companies, based on revenue growth over the past 5 years. From 2002 to 2007, the company’s revenues have gone from 1.35 million to 9.82 million as of October 1st 2007, an increase of 627%; enough for iWeb to make its entry into the 100th position on the annual ranking.

The PROFIT 100 is the annual ranking which rates the top 100 Canadian companies based on the percentage of their revenue growth over a 5-year span. Produced by the business magazine PROFIT, 2008 marks the 20th edition of the ranking.

Founded in 1996, iWeb offers a full line of advanced IP hosting services either through shared hosting, dedicated servers or colocation in three data centers, featuring over 52,000 square feet of floor space and the latest technological equipment. iWeb provides services in English, French and Spanish to clients in more than 130 countries.

Netfirms Celebrates Olympic Silver Winner

Toronto, Canada - (Website Hosting Directory) - August 21, 2008 - Web hosting solutions provider, Netfirms, congratulates Olympic Karen Cockburn, a Canadian artistic gymnast, on her triumph in Woman’s Trampoline competition, after sponsoring the contender.

Toronto born gymnast Karen Cockburn, competed today and landed herself and Canada a silver medal, bringing her total medal count to three; a bronze in 2000, silver in 2004 and now silver in 2008.

Ms. Cockburn remarked, ”I’d like to thank everyone that made my dream possible. I had a huge outpour of e-mails from my website and blog prior to competition.”

Her journey, to what may be her final trip to any games, has not been an easy one. In 2007 Karen suffered her second knee injury. Her road to recovery began in early 2008 when she stepped foot onto a trampoline for the first time since her surgery.

Though this is her third time competing in the games, Karen never lets this fact go to her head. Facing stiff competition and a past rival there was no room for her injury or cockiness to cloud her mind. Proving that her determination is always present she earned a score of 37.00 and just barely fell short of first place by eight tenths of a point. She is the fourth Canadian ever to win a medal in three straight games.

Thomas Savundra, President, Netfirms Inc. added, ”Congratulations Karen on an excellent performance. It was a strong finish executed with class and poise in one of the most challenging competitions ever.”

After learning that the trampoline was a competitive sport, Ms. Cockburn made the switch. In 1995, Karen injured her knee to the point where she needed reconstructive surgery and had to miss a years worth of training and competitions. Up until 1999 she had to compete with a brace on her knee. Despite the challenges that Karen has faced she still manages to give 110% and never faults on her determination to win.

Touted as the best Canadian thing to happen to gymnastics, Ms. Cockburn is an eight time Canadian champion, a World Champion in women’s trampoline and the reigning World Cup Synchronized Trampoline Co-Champion. Ms. Cockburn already has a summer games bronze medal in 2000 and silver medal in 2004.
