ViaWest Excels Growth

Denver, Colorado - (The Hosting News) - March 30, 2007 -
Adaptable colocation and managed hosting solutions firm, ViaWest, has reported double-digit revenue growth, triple-digit EBITDA growth and a 45 percent jump in increased existing customer demand in 2006.

According to the company, the metrics, combined with strong market growth across the industry, contributed to ViaWest posting its best year financially in the company’s history. ViaWest increased its total revenue growth in 2006 by 53 percent as compared to 2005. The majority of its revenue growth was driven by companies turning to ViaWest to manage their critical data and IT infrastructure needs through colocation and managed hosting services. Revenue from customers utilizing its colocation and managed hosting services jumped 56 percent over 2005.

Roy Dimoff, CEO and Co-founder of ViaWest remarked, “We have watched demand for managed hosting and colocation services steadily increase, particularly among small and mid-size businesses, as companies realize the need to invest in reliable secure hosting, on-demand support and data recovery options. This heightened demand helped ViaWest outperform our 2006 growth targets. Last year, we expanded into Portland by purchasing a Tier-1 datacenter, signed more than 100 new customers and realized a 56 percent increase in revenue for colocation and hosting services in Colorado. Looking ahead to 2007, we are on track to further accelerate our success both organically and through additional expansion opportunities in new markets.”

While the company has steadily built out state-of-the-art datacenters in three states, Colorado continues to reflect a growing market. In 2006, ViaWest grew its revenue in Colorado for colocation and managed hosting services by 56 percent over 2005. Demand from customers in Colorado opting for additional services increased by 100 percent.

ViaWest’s success in 2006 was also fueled in part by the continued growth for managed hosting and colocation services throughout the industry. According to a recent study by IDC, a leading analyst firm, the U.S. web hosting services market was $6.9 billion in 2005, and is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate of 16 percent over the next five years, reaching $14.5 billion in 2010. IDC also reports that managed services penetration will continue to grow.

Mr.
Dimoff added, “For ViaWest, much of our growth comes from small and mid-size businesses that benefit from the efficiencies gained by utilizing an experienced and established organization like ours to support their critical data and infrastructure needs. Not only do we alleviate the high cost associated with businesses trying to manage their IT requirements on their own, but we bring an enormous amount of technical knowledge and proven expertise that enables companies to spend more time and resources focusing on their core competencies and growing their businesses.”

ViaWest provides colocation, managed hosting solutions and comprehensive services to mid-sized businesses. Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, with additional Tier 1 data centers in Utah and Oregon, ViaWest offers technology infrastructure solutions and critical resources to support business needs. ViaWest currently serves thousands of customers nationwide including Frontier Airlines, the Denver Broncos, Exclusive Resorts and Chipotle. The company was named One of Denver’s Top Corporate Philanthropists and One of Colorado’s Top 10 Mid-size Best Companies to Work For.

Web Hosting Marketplace Debuts

Lahore, Pakistan - (Website Hosting Directory) - March 30, 2007 - Web hosting provider, Hosting Screen, has launched a marketplace, highlighting its services in Pakistan, offering shared and reseller hosting plans, categorically organized by web space provided within the plans, for easy selection of the best offering.

At Pak.HostingScreen.com, webmasters, businesses and other visitors, also have the option of sorting the plans based on price, to find the most economical local web host for the hosting features desired.

With a consumer-driven comparison of nearly 500 local web hosting plans in its initial database, Hosting Screen’s marketplace allows potential web hosting providers in Pakistan, to easily compare hundreds of local web hosting plans at one website. With more than 32,000 personal and corporate domains from Pakistan, there is still plenty of room for growth in the local web hosting sector. And an online marketplace that features a wide spectrum of hosting plans as offered by local web hosts, will definitely aid consumers in the search for the right hosting solution.

According to the company, it is also noted that businesses generally tend to acquire hosting services from the same party that designed their websites. Very often these designers offer a limited range of hosting plans and charge a premium over what hosting focused companies are charging for similar plans. With the increase in general awareness that Pak.HostingScreen.com provides regarding web hosting services, it is expected that many businesses will break away from their current contracts in search for more suitable and cost-effective hosting deals.

Kamran Rizvi, Regional Manager for Southeast Asia at HostingScreen.com offered, “Price may not be the only factor when searching for a reliable web host, but it is an important one and definitely the short listing criteria when faced with a large number of companies providing very similar solutions. Thus a price comparison engine for the local web hosting market was more than required and we feel great pleasure announcing its inauguration on this year’s Pakistan Day.”

Hosting Screen builds country specific web hosting marketplaces that aim at creating positive competition within the local hosting industry and also helps consumers of these countries make more informed decisions.

Goldleaf Powers First Federal Savings

Brentwood, Tennessee - (The Hosting News) - March 29, 2007 - Financial institution web hosting and design technology solutions firm, Goldleaf Financial Solutions, Inc., has been selected by Pennsylvania-based First Federal Savings, for its remote deposit solution to truncate commercial deposits at client locations.

Goldleaf’s remote deposit solution is designed to replace traditional deposit processes, reducing the time, effort and overhead costs associated with business deposit preparation, validation, transportation, processing, and management for both the bank and its commercial customers. The solution allows First Federal’s commercial customers to scan, submit and deposit all of their checks electronically - from the convenience of their desks. The benefits to First Federal are numerous, including the acquisition of low-cost deposits, expanding beyond the branch footprint without the expense of opening additional branches, eliminating expensive courier services, and protecting existing customers from competitive encroachment.

Pat O’Brien, Executive Vice President and COO of First Federal Savings Bank remarked, “Having invested in the community since 1922, First Federal has always been committed to providing the right products and services for our customers. In fact, our business model is predicated on the four P’s: product, process, people and places. Remote deposit is the perfect example of the four P’s, as it really does emphasize the bank’s dedication to offering superior solutions without compromising the high level of service our customers have come to expect from us.”

Bank executives recognized that, up until remote deposit was introduced, the only real way for a bank to grow beyond its borders was to build new branches, which while necessary, is also a very costly endeavor. First Federal opened one branch in July of 2006, with another scheduled to open in 2007. While bricks and mortar are a crucial component of a bank’s growth, executives agreed that it could not be the only way to reach beyond traditional borders. Remote deposit allows First Federal to put the bank on the desk of its commercial customers, no longer requiring them to come to the bank while still receiving superior service.

Lynn Boggs, CEO of Goldleaf Financial Solutions commented, “First Federal is really a pioneer in the market they serve. The bank quickly recognized the inherent benefits of remote deposit and was able to see the value for its customers, as well as the growth potential for both business loans and business deposits. By partnering with Goldleaf, First Federal leverages a competitive advantage by achieving all of the benefits of early check image and data capture and paper truncation at remote points of deposit. It also enables the bank to process its business customers’ deposits with greater efficiency and accuracy. Remote deposit really sets First Federal apart in the market, showcasing the bank as a leader that is positioned for sustainable success.”

The bank began its due diligence in 2006, with a comparison of three vendors. First Federal began a rigorous process, researching the vendors from both management and technical perspectives. It interviewed banks that were using the other products, as well as the Goldleaf solution, examining several criteria including ease of use, technology and the technical aspects.

Ms. O’Brien continued, “After our research, it became apparent that Goldleaf had an exceptional product. They had the most recent technology - it was right on the cutting edge. The biggest factor for us was probably how big an intrusion implementation would be for our customers. Once again, Goldleaf was superior with the customer seeing virtually no interruption. On the processing side, Goldleaf was easily the most efficient. In our comparisons, on the front and back ends, Goldleaf was the best vendor in the market.”

First Federal Savings Bank is a federally chartered savings bank that operates as a community-oriented financial institution offering residential, multi-family and commercial mortgages, consumer loans and commercial loans to individuals and businesses from a primary market area in the mid-Monongahela Valley, located in the southern suburban area of metropolitan Pittsburgh. Its seven banking offices are located in Fayette, Washington and Westmoreland counties. First Federal also maintains a large investment portfolio and conducts insurance brokerage activities through an 80%-owned subsidiary.

Goldleaf Financial Solutions, Inc. (GFSI) offers a product suite that provides core data processing, item processing and check imaging, ACH origination and processing, remote check capture and deposit processing, accounts receivable financing solutions, a teller automation system, turn-key leasing solutions, financial institution website design and hosting and retail inventory management services. Goldleaf believes its suite of products and services allows financial institutions and small to medium-sized business customers to compete more effectively in today’s aggressive financial services marketplace, to grow trusted financial relationships and to enhance profitability through the efficient use of technology and an expanded community presence.

SWsoft Upgrades Hosted SaaS Applications

Herndon, Virginia - (The Hosting News) - March 28, 2007 - Server virtualization firm, SWsoft, has developed new specifications for packaging hosted applications for service providers to offer to customers, as well as enable independent software vendors (ISVs) to service more end users.

The Application Packaging Format, part of SWsoft’s OPEN FUSION initiative, is designed to make it easier for the hosting industry to take advantage of the expanding software-as-a-service (SaaS) market. According to Stamford, Conn.-based research firm Gartner Inc., the global SaaS market is expected to grow to $19.3 billion by 2011, tripling in size from the $6.3 billion it was in 2006.

According to the company, because of the intensive development and integration requirements, service providers today offer a limited variety of hosted applications. As a result, ISVs have little incentive to create hosted applications they can’t sell, and customers suffer from limited application choices. The new specifications provide ISVs with a unified platform to create “pluggable” applications that require no additional integration by service providers.

Serguei Beloussov, CEO of SWsoft offered, “By introducing a common, open platform for hosted applications, we hope to accelerate the development of new applications that can be delivered by any service provider. The specifications advance our OPEN FUSION initiative to enable a new generation of highly-integrated services and vastly increase business opportunities for the entire hosting ecosystem – from third-party software developers and ISVs to hosting providers and their customers.”

The Application Packaging Format specifications are available for free on the SWsoft Software Developer Network (SWDN) at http://swdn.swsoft.com/r/docs/package-format-specification-0.1-draft1/package-format-specification-0.1-draft1.html. The format will be supported in upcoming releases of SWsoft Plesk control panel and PEM datacenter automation software.

In addition. SWsoft will also introduce a site application certification program as part of its OPEN FUSION certification program, which will provide basic and advanced requirements using the Application Packaging Format.

OPEN FUSION is an SWsoft technology initiative to improve integration among a wide range of systems, third-party applications and modules, and custom and in-house solutions. The OPEN FUSION platform enables optimized delivery of SaaS and traditional hosting services to help ISVs and service providers take full advantage of new opportunities in the market.

SWsoft is a recognized leader in server automation and virtualization software. With more than 10,000 customers in over 100 countries, SWsoft’s suite of products delivers proven performance, reliability, manageability and value. With offices around the world; SWsoft is a high growth company, funded by Bessemer Venture Partners, Insight Venture Partners and Intel Capital, offering comprehensive solutions – transparently integrated through the OPEN FUSION Initiative - including Virtuozzo, Plesk, SiteBuilder, HSPcomplete and PEM.
