PCNames Expired Traffic Search

PCNames.com Releases Expired Traffic Search

PCNames.com has released the first version of an expired traffic search, a feature which has been requested by many of its users. This tool will rank all domains scheduled to come back on the market within the week according to how much traffic they might have.

(PRWeb) November 30, 2006 — PCNames.com has released the first version of an expired traffic search, a feature which has been requested by many of its users. This tool will rank all domains scheduled to come back on the market within the week according to how much traffic they might have.

In order to determine if a domain name might still have traffic, it is checked for Google PageRank, Alexa Rank, DMOZ Listing, Yahoo Listing, number of links and pages found in major search engines, and how long the domain was registered. A positive score in most areas can be a good indication that the site still has traffic. The only way to know for sure how much traffic the domain still has is to register it.

Generating traffic can be one of the most difficult tasks when developing a website. Purchasing a domain which already has traffic can help jump start the site. One of the more common uses of this tool is to help users find valuable domains to make money with parked pages. A parked page is a way for domainers to take advantage of the traffic a domain has by setting up a site with advertisements. Pool.com has recently developed a new service called Catch & Release, allowing users to “Try A Domain on for Size”. This new service will offer serious players a chance to test out a large number of domains for traffic. They do this by registering the domain and then issuing a refund within 5 days if the domain does not produce.

In certain cases these domains are worth something regardless of their traffic. This is true for names listed in places like DMOZ or Yahoo. For example, it costs $300/year to be included in the Yahoo Directory. Registering a domain already listed could save you the entry fee. Even more valuable are the names found in dmoz.org. This is the largest directory on the Internet and in most cases it’s nearly impossible to get added. The site is run exclusively by volunteers and getting someone to take a look at a site could take months or even years of waiting assuming it happens at all.

The Expired Traffic Search is part of the advanced tool set at http://www.pcnames.com/tools.htm. A subscription is required to use these tools, which costs $14.95/week or $34.95/month. This traffic search can be found at http://www.pcnames.com/traffic/

The recognition validates Verio’s investment and focus in delivering world-class technical and customer support, and to creating an easy to use and effective online sales and education experience to customers via its web site.
The new awards are jointly presented by Selling Power magazine, the leading sales management publication with 145,000 subscribers in 67 countries, and The Stevie® Awards, which have been hailed as “the business world’s own Oscars” by the New York Post (April 27, 2005).

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word “crowned,” winners will be announced during a gala banquet on Monday, December 4 in Las Vegas. Nominated executives from around the world are expected to attend. More than 300 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories.

Verio’s Customer Service team was advanced to the finalist category based on several improvements made to the company’s support structure during the past year, including enhanced call center redundancies, more stringent quality assurance measures and standardization across all call centers, reducing the average call hold times for customers. Dennis Boyle, Chief Operating Officer for Verio explained, ”Verio’s technical support is a distinguishing factor of the business overall, and the reason many customers choose Verio services over the competition, and have helped to position the company as an advisor to customers’ businesses. Our goal for the coming year is to continue improving upon our best-in-class service to make it easier for customers to get the service they need for their online business needs.”

Earlier this year, Verio’s Online Marketing Team, also named a finalist in the Online Sales Team of the Year category, launched a redesign of Verio.com, incorporating extensive customer feedback, user preferences and site behavior analysis into the new design to enhance the customer experience. As a result, the team was able to increase shopping cart conversion, as well as online revenue. The team credits its success to carefully analyzing and interpreting extensive data gathered from marketing and sales trends, site testing and customer research.

Kiyoshi Maeda, President and CEO for Verio added, ”The simple act of speaking to customers yields some of the best insights into product needs and the best education and sales process. Our Online Team is combines extensive user input with data analysis to optimize our online sales channel, resulting in double digit growth.”

Members of the Awards’ Board of Distinguished Judges and Advisors and their staffs will select Stevie Award winners this week from among the Finalists. Finalists were chosen by business professionals worldwide during preliminary judging.

Gerhard Gschwandtner, Founder and Publisher of Selling Power remarked, ”Being named a Finalist in The Selling Power Sales Excellence Awards is an important achievement. It means that independent business executives have agreed that the nominee is worthy of international recognition. We congratulate all of the Finalists on their achievement and wish them well in the competition.”

Hailed as “the business world’s own Oscars” by the New York Post (April 27, 2005), Stevie Awards are conferred in four programs: The American Business Awards, The International Business Awards, The Stevie Awards for Women in Business, and the Selling Power Sales Excellence Awards. Honoring companies of all types and sizes and the people behind them, the Stevies recognize outstanding performances in the workplace worldwide.

Datacenter Event Debuts SWsoft

Herndon, Virginia
- (The Hosting News) - November 30, 2006 - Server automation and virtualization software firm, SWsoft, will demonstrate its operating system software, Virtuozzo, at the 25th annual Gartner Datacenter Conference from through December 1 in Las Vegas.

In addition, Virtuozzo from SWsoft was recently cited in an industry analyst report discussing new technology for data center operating system software.
The report from Gartner stated: ”By 2010, mainstream virtualization technology will embrace I/O virtualization, breaking the traditional bonds between physical servers, network switches and storage area network (SAN) switches; by 2010, shared operating system (OS) virtualization will become mainstream.”

SWsoft Virtuozzo is one example of operating system (OS)-level server virtualization technology cited in the report, which can be accessed from the SWsoft website (www.swsoft.com). With Virtuozzo, a single Linux or Windows OS instance can be dynamically partitioned into multiple, highly-efficient virtual environments. The Virtuozzo architecture enables each virtual environment to scale up to the full resources of the physical server and maintain performance at levels consistent with a native server. Virtuozzo enables density of up to hundreds of virtual environments on a single physical server, which is many more times the number of virtual machines than are possible with other virtualization technologies.

Unlike virtual machines and hypervisors, OS-level virtualization addresses the challenge faced by today’s datacenters of operating systems sprawl. Virtuozzo provides efficiency and manageability that result in the lowest total cost-of-ownership and fastest ROI for customers.

SWsoft is a recognized leader in server automation and virtualization software. With more than 10,000 customers in over 100 countries, SWsoft’s suite of products delivers proven performance, reliability, manageability and value. With offices around the world; SWsoft is a high growth company, funded by Bessemer Venture Partners, Insight Venture Partners and Intel Capital, offering comprehensive solutions – transparently integrated through the OPEN FUSION Initiative - including Virtuozzo, Plesk, SiteBuilder, HSPcomplete and PEM.

SingleHop Warns E-Commerce Sites

Chicago, Illinois - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - November 29, 2006 - According to managed web hosting provider, SingleHop, holiday online shoppers may continue to experience delays, as referenced by Amazon.com and walmart.com’s recent ‘’scheduled maintenance,” which resulted in e-commerce outages.

Zak Boca, President of SingleHop explained, ”Planning scheduled maintenance that precludes consumers from buying on one of the busiest shopping days of the year really doesn’t add up. We expect that with the predicted record influx in traffic, a large number of online retailers will be unprepared, which will result in downtime that can cost businesses thousands of dollars in lost revenue, and as seen in some high- profile cases, as much as $1M per minute. These are numbers you can’t ignore.”

According to a recent Harris Interactive survey, 40% of online consumers will leave a website if it’s experiencing issues, and retailers have a scant eight seconds to engage and capture a consumer’s attention before they move on. It’s predicted that online holiday spending will total more than 32 billion dollars this year, with consumers spending 53% of their holiday budgets online.

Mr. Boca continued, ”Your servers and e- commerce applications have to have the additional capacity to handle the holiday rush. Online retailers should test and prepare their systems for a 40% spike in traffic, which means that your website, your shopping carts, and your ordering systems should be capable of supporting an additional 40% of utilization. If your performance audits show that your systems aren’t capable, it’s important to cluster, which essentially scales a website across multiple servers. In the instance of a failure online retailers should have a disaster recovery plan in place. At the bare minimum a disaster recovery plan should include backups and fail-over systems. This ensures that in the event of a failure an online retailer will have both recent backups of all systems and a fail-over system that will quickly take the place of primary servers to ensure a limited amount of downtime. The cost of a failure in this day and age is just too high to remain offline for more than a few seconds.”

SingleHop, Inc. is a fully transparent managed dedicated server ISP, located in Chicago, IL. SingleHop was formed to deliver low cost managed IT services for the small to medium enterprises from a central Midwest hub location. The company has capacity for over 2000 servers in one datacenter, with a network powered entirely by Cisco.

Greg Rotman, CEO of Paid remarked, ”We were pleased with our revenue growth that is due to the continued growth of our celebrity services business. With projects already under way, we believe that our revenue will continue to grow in the fourth quarter to make it one of our best quarters to date.”

During the third quarter, Paid derived 89% of its revenue from sales of fan club memberships, merchandise, and fan experiences related to tours of performing artists, 8% from sales of the Company’s own product and fees from buyers and sellers through the Rotman Auction operations and 3% from sports marketing. Fan experience, Fan club membership and related merchandise sales revenues were $1,338,300. Gross profit from Company owned product sales for third quarter 2006 was $71,900, $61,300 more than in 2005. Gross profit margin increased as a result of a management decision during the third quarter of 2005 to liquidate slower moving inventories while in 2006 goods were being sold at more normal margins.

Operating Expenses — Total operating expenses for the third quarter of 2006 were $1,096,300 compared to $1,108,100 in third quarter 2005, a decrease of $11,800. The travel, credit card commissions and postage and shipping increases are all principally attributable to tours of performing artists.

Interest Expense — In third quarter 2006, Paid incurred $6,600 of interest charges, a decrease of $73,800 from the comparable 2005 period attributable to settlement of convertible debt during the second quarter of 2006. Other Expense — Other expense for third quarter 2006 includes $266,300 of realized and unrealized depreciation in the fair value of call options received in the 2005 settlement.

Net Loss — Paid realized a net loss for third quarter 2006 of $913,600 compared to a net loss of $1,018,300 for the comparable quarter in 2005. The net loss for the nine months ended September 30, 2006 was $1,141,100 compared to a net loss of $2,459,300 for the comparable 2005 period.

Patent Status Update — In May 2005, Paid received from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) a verbal notification of allowance. Paid has not received the formal notification of allowance or been granted the patent for Paid’s patent application for online shipping calculation processes. Paid and its attorneys at Hunton & Williams, LLP, continue to work with the USPTO to move the patent application forward. Pending receipt of the formal written notice of allowance of the Company’s patent application, the Company will pursue a variety of possible revenue streams from its “AuctionInc” platform and patent which hosts a suite of management tools and enhanced shipping calculator solutions for ecommerce enterprises.

Paid, Inc.’s celebrity services provides famous people with official web sites and fan club services that include e-commerce storefronts, ticketing and fan experience packages, and web site content. The Company also sponsors autograph signing events and other sports marketing services for sports clientele. Using proprietary patent-pending technology, Paid’s patent-pending AuctionInc brand shipping calculation and auction management software and services are utilized to streamline online auctions, ecommerce and web site development and hosting.

Earthlink Subsidiary Offers Webinar

Vancouver, Washington - (The Hosting News) - November 28, 2006 - According to EarthLink Inc. subsidiary, New Edge Networks, it has received more than 100 new requests for network proposals, which translates to more than $60 million, since it began marketing its MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching), last month.

New Edge has reported that more than 75 percent of the requests are for networks with fewer than 20 nodes or locations and from businesses representing various industries. New Edge believes that the reason for this surge, is that MPLS-based networks have reached mainstream business and small and midsize companies are clamoring for the new generation networks that help them converge voice and data applications over a single network, improve reliability, and cut total communications costs

Among the first several new MPLS contracts that New Edge Networks already has won are a two-location MPLS network for a pediatrics medical care center in New York, a seven-location multi-state network for an industrial supply company based in Minnesota, and a six-location network for a staffing firm in Washington state. Installation work on these and other MPLS networks is underway.

Greg Griffiths, Vice President of Marketing for New Edge Networks explained, ”This is clear indication that MPLS has reached mainstream business, at last enabling small and midsize businesses in diverse industries to level their competitive playing field, deliver better service to their customers, and improve profits. MPLS technology today is more standardized than ever, networking costs are becoming more affordable, and nimble and quick providers like New Edge Networks are able to provide the level of customer support that small and midsize businesses need but which is difficult for large communications companies to provide. These traditionally underserved small and midsize companies now have new choices for better supporting and growing their business.”

It is hoped that by using MPLS-based networks, businesses can converge their voice, video, and data applications over a single network to reduce total communication costs. MPLS allows businesses to prioritize network traffic and control quality of service, rather than buying more bandwidth for supporting existing and emerging applications such as Internet phone service or so-called VoIP, digital video monitoring, and real-time inventory management.

Florin Berevoescu, Manager of Information Technology for the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center added, ”The Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center is committed to changing the lives of medically fragile children, one child at a time, and we need an efficient communications network to help us deliver compassionate quality healthcare. Working with a communications provider that cares as much for our two sites as we care for each child in our centers is an important consideration for selecting our service providers. New Edge Networks has been consistently responsive and flexible with the planning and installation of our network.” An MPLS network, powered by New Edge Networks, will link the pediatric center in Manhattan, NY, to the Children’s Rehabilitation Center in White Plains, NY.

Many small and midsize businesses generally do not have dedicated IT resources or are spread thin, preferring to do business with providers that can assume responsibility for managing the project from start to finish. New Edge Networks offers project management with all network installations, including on site installation work to ensure applications are properly connected to the new network. Therefore, it is believed that MPLS can be easier to deploy and manage than previous generation network solutions like Frame Relay. MPLS can use any blend of access technologies such as Frame Relay, ATM, DSL, and private lines.

Last month New Edge Networks introduced its MPLS offering that honors five classes of service across a customer’s entire network, from customer location to customer location. The company is targeting small and midsize companies with 10 to 50 locations, though it can accommodate network requirements for large enterprises with hundreds or thousands of sites around the country.

New Edge Networks is using targeted direct mail and marketing campaigns to attract likely customers. The company recently hosted a webinar outlining the benefits of MPLS over other technologies as well as opportunities for both businesses as well as current and prospective selling partners. In addition, New Edge Networks also produced a whitepaper for helping small and midsize business customers understand and deploy MPLS networks for their business.

New Edge Networks, based in Vancouver, Wash., is a wholly owned subsidiary of EarthLink Inc. (NASDQ: ELNK). New Edge Networks builds and manages private networks for businesses and communications providers. Through its nationwide backbone network with about 900 switches and Internet routers, New Edge Networks uses any blend of access technologies (xDSL, frame relay, ATM, cable, wireless, and satellite) for providing broadband connectivity at any business address in the United States. Network options include any combination of access, network management functions, and on-site installation services.
