Host Gator Ranks at Inc 5000

Houston, Texas - (The Hosting News) - August 25, 2008 - Shared, dedicated and reseller web hosting firm, Host Gator, has been ranked by Inc.com, as the 21st fastest-growing private company in the country, on its Inc 5000 list.

Brent Oxley, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of HostGator remarked, ”I started the company with a $1,000 budget from my dorm room in Boca Raton, FL. Today the owners of more than 1.3 million websites depend on our hosting service. We are extremely proud of our strong past growth, but we’re really only getting started.” Mr. Oxley, who turned 25 in March, attributes the growth of the company to its commitment to customer service and dedication to providing customers with the best web hosting experience in the hosting industry.

The 2008 Inc. 5000 list measures revenue growth from 2004 through 2007. To qualify, companies must be U.S.-based and privately held, for profit, independent - not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies - as of December 31, 2007, and have had at least $200,000 in revenue in 2004, and $2 million in 2007.

HostGator revenue grew by 5297% during the measured period. In addition to being ranked #21 overall, HostGator was also ranked #1 for growth in the Houston metro, #2 for growth in the Business Services category, and #1 for growth within the state of Texas.

The Houston-based company had revenues of $18,700,000 in 2007 compared to revenues of $326,000 in 2004 and projects revenues over the next 12 months will reach $50,000,000. Since moving to Houston in 2006, HostGator has created over 155 positions for highly skilled technicians and systems administrators. It recently completed renovations to accommodate a large increase in hiring activity and expects to add at least 100 new employees in Houston over the next few months.

In January, after reporting a successful fiscal year, has given gifts to support cancer fighting initiatives, while promoting education in underdeveloped countries.

The company gave $100,000 to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, and $25,000 to One Laptop per Child. The gifts were decided upon by HostGator management and staff, including a significant contribution to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

In addition. HostGator donated to the international organization, One Laptop Per Child. The Anderson Cancer Center received a gift of $100,000 and One Laptop per Child received $25,000. The goal of One Laptop per Child is spelled out in its name: to improve the educational opportunities for children in underdeveloped regions by giving every child access to an inexpensive, durable, web-capable laptop. At $100 each, the gift from HostGator should provide at least 250 laptops.

The gift to One Laptop per Child was another easy decision, according to Mr. Oxley, ”If it wasn’t for the internet and computers we wouldn’t be in business. If just one of the kids can further their knowledge in computers and make a career out of it, in some shape or form, it will have been worth every penny.”

At Anderson, one of the country’s largest cancer treatment centers, HostGator’s gift will go to support a variety of programs — from research and clinical trials, to education, counseling and treatments. Mr. Oxley says as HostGator continues to grow and earn profits, it will continue increasing the amount of its annual gifts.

GoDaddy Supports Dell, Imperva, OPNET

Scottsdale, Arizona - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - June 5, 2008 - GoDaddy’s SSL certificates, have been chosen by major technology suppliers, Dell, Imperva, OPNET and SmugMug.

Dell is an online commerce pioneer and a leader in computer systems and services. Imperva is a leader in application data security. OPNET is a leading provider of solutions for managing networks and applications. SmugMug is a leading photo-sharing site.

Go Daddy SSL Secure Certificates enable a server and a browser to establish a secure, encrypted connection to protect data during transmission. SSL certs are the standard when it comes to protecting important information including, credit card numbers, passwords and social security numbers.

Bob Parsons, CEO and Founder of GoDaddy remarked, ”It’s great to see Dell, Opnet, SmugMug, Imperva and so many other big companies taking advantage of our SSL certificates. All of our customers get the same functionality, stringent vetting standards and reliability as any other cert in the industry. If you could get an identical product for a fraction of the price, why wouldn’t you do it?”

Andy Lark, Vice President of marketing and communications, and head of Dell.com remarked, ”As a company with a strong online presence, security is vital to our success. Privacy and security are an uncompromising commitment we make to millions of customers every day.”

Mark Kraynak, Senior Director of Strategic Marketing at Imperva commented, ”The decision on which certificate provider we chose to use was simple. Go Daddy makes it easy. They have reliable customer support, an excellent product and the price is right.”

These industry heavyweights aren’t the only ones using Go Daddy’s SSL Certificates, smaller businesses see the value as well. In fact, in the latest Netcraft report, Go Daddy showed the largest growth in number of SSL certificates issued.

Mike Prettejohn, Director of Netcraft Ltd. added, ”For four months Go Daddy has continually led all other SSL providers in the number of new certificates issued and has shown the largest overall growth over the past 12 months.”

An SSL Certificate enables encryption of online transactions and communications. GoDaddy.com SSL Certificates are offered in three assurance validation levels: Standard, Deluxe and the new Premium with Extended Validation. All GoDaddy.com certificates offer up to 256-bit encryption.

Recently, Go Daddy’s Founder and CEO, Bob Parsons, is the recipient of an honorary doctorate degree. The University of Baltimore President Robert Bogomolny officially presented Parsons with an honorary doctorate in Humane Letters last week. Parsons was ”hooded” at this year’s commencement ceremony before a standing-room only crowd of about 5,600 people packed into the Lyric Opera Theatre. Present at the festivities, were Mr. Parsons’ mother, brother and sister.

Mr. Parsons served as the keynote speaker for the ceremony in which more than 375 Yale Gordon School of Liberal Arts and Merrick School of Business students graduated. He was interrupted with cheers and laughter more than a dozen times during his fifteen minute address. A Baltimore Sun writer called Parsons’ address ”one of the most rousing of this commencement season.” Others in attendance described it as ”inspiring” and ”refreshing.”

Mr. Parsons founded GoDaddy.com which registers web site addresses and is the world leader almost three times over. While he is a self-taught computer programmer honored for innovation and business savvy, he is perhaps best-known for his marketing genius made famous with his risque 2005 Super Bowl ad. Since that time the media has written extensively about his knack for pushing censorship issues and generating controversy with his advertising year after year.

Video Blog Premieres, at GoDaddy

Scottsdale, Arizona - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - May 1, 2008 - Web hosting domain registrar, Go Daddy, has debuted the launch of a new media video blog, hosted by its Founder and CEO, Bob Parsons.

”This is not your average corporate communication, nor is it your typical message ‘canned for a Chief Executive Officer representing a world leading company - No, www.BobParsons.tv is an in-your-face, tell-it-like-it-is video blog used to speak directly to customers, employees and even the media. It’s blunt, it’s unvarnished, even irreverent and it’s out there for anyone to see,” proclaims information released by the company.

Go Daddy’s CEO and Founder recently unveiled his latest venture into new media with www.BobParsons.tv, featuring Mr. Parsons’ commentary, invites criticism and addresses topics ranging from Internet industry issues, to business decisions, company controversies or relevant subjects in the news with the help of video clips and other multimedia elements.

Mr. Parsons explained, ”Nobody can speak for me or communicate my thoughts like I do, right? It may be a little rough around the edges and it keeps our legal department on their toes, but posting a video blog, or vlog, is one of the best ways to ensure my message isn’t diluted, convoluted or.. muted.”

Few business leaders provide transparent messages or understand the importance of embracing new technology. Some critics have even questioned the wisdom of letting an executive speak off the cuff and public relation professionals might scoff at publishing an unfiltered message but Parsons sees true value in putting his views ‘on the record.’

In a recent book on blogging, Radically Transparent: Monitoring and Managing Reputations Online, authors Andy Beal and Dr. Judy Strauss write ”Bob Parsons’ blogging efforts exemplify a radically transparent CEO understands that blogging provides an open and honest connection.”

Mr. Parsons is often referred to as an Internet industry watchdog. His vlog is interactive on all topics - he not only writes it, he personally responds to the reader comments. His original blog, ”Hot Points,” repeatedly ranked as the top CEO blog in the world. The self-taught computer programmer started writing on the Web in late 2004 and used it as a venue for addressing speculation surrounding the company’s first Super Bowl commercial - an ad that eventually triggered a censorship controversy now referenced in marketing textbooks.

Mr. Parsons added, ”It’s just time to try something new. Let’s face it, Web video is already huge - and it’s only going to get bigger.”

This new version also has a new address, using the catchy .TV domain extension. .TV has emerged as a powerful marketing tool and a valuable extension for publishing and viewing video content. As online video continues its rise to Web 2.0 prominence, more and more users have come to rely on .TV domains for their ”daily fix” of web video.

Mr. Parsons concluded, ”We chose the .TV extension for the video blog because it’s the natural home for web video. Dot-TV provides the right platform for marketing, viral video, and entertainment platforms for businesses and people seeking to leverage new media.”

Scottsdale, Arizona - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - April 11, 2008 - Web hosting domain registrar, Go Daddy, has premiered a new Internationalized Domain Name Service, to enable registration in over 100 native languages.

An IDN is a Web address expressed in a native language, and it’s helping to revolutionize the Internet. In the past, it has been difficult to translate western character domain names to other languages because popular scripts, such as Arabic, Chinese or Cyrillic, contain characters that were not previously supported by web browsers.

Bob Parsons, CEO and Founder of GoDaddy.com remarked, ”GoDaddy.com is committed to making it easier for consumers all over the world to navigate domain names. With Internationalized Domain Names, users can find what they need in their own language.”

GoDaddy.com has made Internationalized Domain Names available in more than 100 native languages for .com and .net domain names. Go Daddy also plans to make Internationalized Domain Names available in select languages for .info later this month.

Registering an Internationalized Domain Name with GoDaddy.com gives consumers the chance to build a complete Web presence in most any language. That’s because many of the GoDaddy.com products - including Go Daddy web-based Email and web hosting packages - support non-Western language-based characters.

GoDaddy.com Email offers virus protection, spam filtering, phishing fraud protection and 256-bit encryption at no additional charge. Mr. Parsons added, ”Go Daddy is first and foremost an American company. What we have here works.”

Go Daddy has been ranked by The Business Journal as One of the Valley’s Best Places to Work for four consecutive years.
