BlueHost Ups Disk Space and Bandwidth

BlueHost has increased both the disk space and bandwidth amounts in their web hosting offering. Until recently, the BlueHost plan came with 30 GB disk space and 750 GIGS bandwidth. According to the company’s Web site at www.bluehost.com, 50 GB hosting space and 999 GIGS bandwidth transfer are now offered with the plan.

BlueHost has been providing hosting solutions since 1996. The company offers a shared web hosting package that helps businesses and individuals get high-powered service at a fraction of the cost. The increase would seem to put BlueHost ahead of most competitors in terms of disk space/bandwidth quantity and make BlueHost one of the more generous of all low cost shared hosting providers. Well I do hope you realise that what they are doing is seriously overselling. That kind of bandwidth and diskspace you see on a dedicated server costing 100 dollars or more per month.

You need a lot of CPU power to push out that much bandwidth, and since BlueHost offers shared hosting, that means they cram hundreds of sites onto one server. That means a tiny percent of the CPU to each site meaning that less of the bandwidth can actually be used without violating their terms of service.

Yeah I am with them now and they suck. I am currently about to switch to somewhere else. I have been there for 3 months and have seen sluggish performance as well as 3 complete outages. Stay away!
