If Ancient Rome had the Internet

All networks lead to the Roman datacenter. This might be interesting to any of you who watched the HBO Rome series which ended last night. Hilarious list of parallels between ancient rome and the modern-day web.

  • Attila the Hun has his own MySpace page.
  • But at least Caesar’s “Et tu Brute?” comment is available as a free ringtone download.
  • Hannibal blogs his way across the Alps with posts like, “Whoops, lost another elephant today.”

New Website Lost By Hosting Company

This bit of news might better be filed under horror stories or offbeat. According to one site owner, within two days of launching and announcing an ecommerce website featuring high-end products, the hosting company *lost* it due to an employee error.

According to my host, the server company overrode the C drive for the 60+ websites, then finalized the loss by deleting the backup secondary drive.

What’s the moral of this story? Backup, backup, backup!
