1 and 1 Web Hosting - Which Name is Correct?

One of the most perplexing things about 1 and 1 web hosting is not they their control panel is not user friendly or that they separate everything into “packages” or that they are not ostensibly as “hip” as Godaddy, but how do you spell the name correctly? I’ve narrowed it down to the below from references on the company site and other references on the Internet. Which one of these is the correct way to refer to the company?

  1. 1&1
  2. 1 and 1
  3. 1and1.com
  4. 1&1 Internet Inc.
  5. “2″

I’ve decided to go with 1 and 1 because I don’t like the “&” character (must be the SEO in me). At any rate, we’ve made some notes about  the company’s web hosting offering and here’s a taste:

The 1 and 1 services offered to the small and medium enterprise are impressive. Their strength is their excellent value for money, in offering a very large array of services and features with their web hosting products for an extremely low monthly charge.

The 1 and 1 homepage is attractive and is set up to give clear information about their products and services and what they offer. There is a graphic showing very clearly the extras to be had for each package, helping reveal what stands out. This is definitely a plus in deciding which package to choose. The company track record is also clearly stated with financial summaries, and is rock solid.

    For your readers:
My experience with 1and1 has not been so good. They have billing problems and I only need a 1 page website and their basic package website builder doesn’t allow html so if I stay with them I have to spend more money than they originally presented to me.

GoDaddy’s website is so cluttered how can you tell what your doing? They are also cut-rate and by the time you add everything you need you might as well go to Network Solutions and just pay the price up front without being scammed.

I have nothing good to say about 1and1, All I had was a simple forward of my name to my web site, I haven’t seen my site on the web since,I was told to buy seo, which I didn’t need, I’ve talked to 4 different people with no results. I wrote an email and elaborated on the problem just to have it returned to me asking me to elabrate. This morning I called and ask for the person who wrote the email, the young man said he was busy on the phone, I ask for a manager he said he was on break for half an hour, I ask for his name, the young man said wait one minute,he came back and said the first man was off the phone and he would transfer me to him and as I was waiting I was hung up on, Since I can’t find anyone to solve the problem or anyone in upper management to help I’ll have to go to another company but there support need’s serious help!

I am surprised to hear that. 1and1, being one of the largest web hosting companies in the world, should be able to solve a problem as simple as a domain forward. I hope you get an answer before running out of patience. That’s too long to be on hold.

I see that the site you listed is down, if that’s the one. Good luck and feel free to post any further findings back here.

Forwarding is easily handled by 1and1. It’s done in a nice standard way. I even use a subdomain on my website as a DynDNS url for my home site. For a while, every time my home IP address would change, I would log into the 1and1 control panel and update it. However, eventually I wrote a Delphi app that performed the whole action for me at the click of a button. I’d be glad to help any one who has an issue for this.. Sorry I didn’t see your message sooner Lillian…

1&1 is such a simple name, yet before I found them, I thought…1on1 or 1to1 before I finally saw one of their Google ads and figured it out. Regardless of the name, I am glad I found them. I love their prices, and I have little need of tech support, so I think I should be happy as pie with ‘1&1′.
