BizLand Provides Free Web Hosting

Burlington, Massachusetts – (Website Hosting Directory) – May 4, 2007 – Web hosting service for small and medium business firm provider, BizLand, has provided free web site-building tools and hosting for non-profit organization, Citizen Schools.

Focused on transforming education by connecting adult volunteers to middle school students in hands-on learning projects, the Citizen Schools’ ”Kids Online” web site will be provided gratis by BizLand, beginning with the spring semester of 2007. In addition, free services will be provided to all students that wish to create web sites to learn and exercise skills involving site development and other multimedia courses.

Zeb Zankel, teaching fellow at Citizen Schools remarked, ”We recognize the importance of the technology sector in a student’s knowledgebase. Over the past year alone, the number of technology apprenticeships in the Citizen Schools network has more than doubled. Without the help of BizLand, our ‘Kids Online’ program, geared toward enhancing education beyond just ‘hearing and seeing’ aspects, would not have been possible. By providing us web site development tools and hosting, BizLand has enabled our students to accomplish the fundamental goal of our program–to discuss, do, and teach what they’ve learned so they can better retain concepts while developing knowledge and opinions.”

Citizen Schools emphasizes the learning of practical and marketable skills by engaging students in apprenticeships. A ”WOW!” is what students produce through their apprenticeships: high-quality, real-world products or performances that have value to the community.

Joe Bardenheier, Vice President of Corporate Development at BizLand added, ”Here at BizLand, we are pleased to have been such a major part of Citizen Schools’ students’ intellectual achievements. We realize that these students will eventually chart the future of technology, and providing them access to the tools they need to excel in their technology apprenticeships gives them a great start.”

The ”Kids Online” WOW! video-conference presentation, to be held on May 7, 2007 at the MIT Media Lab, will give students an opportunity to teach their peers and the public the real-world knowledge and skills they learned from their 11-week technology apprenticeship.

Founded in 1997, BizLand is a provider of web site services for individuals and small to medium-sized businesses. The company provides shared hosting services and related products, including e-mail, domains and online stores.
