Yahoo Small Business Hosting

Posted in Providers on August 11th, 2009 by whf – Be the first to comment

You thought Yahoo! was a Search Engine?

Yep, Yahoo Web Hosting. That’s www.yahoo.com, one of the biggest search engine companies on the world wide web, now provides small business web hosting for companies that are just getting started on the web and want a way to communicate with their customers online, attract new customers, and sell their products using the internet. This Yahoo Small Business Hosting web hosting review should give you a feel of the options that Yahoo Small Business Hosting provides.

Yahoo Web Hosting

The Yahoo Small Business Hosting site is well organized and gives you the ability to select from different areas of service to small businesses, such as:

  • Web Hosting
  • Merchant Solutions
  • Sponsored Search

With the Yahoo Small Business Hosting web hosting packages, the idea is to make it possible for small business owners to easily create a professional web site and have secure reliable service that allows them the benefits of a free domain name, unlimited email storage, virtually unlimited web pages and 24-hour toll free customer support.

The starter plans that Yahoo Small Business Hosting offers start from around ten dollars a month, making them ideal for someone who is just getting started on the world wide web and wants to test the waters. The Yahoo Small Business Hosting site is designed to make the entire web site design process easy – you can select the look and feel of your new site from lists of templates provided by Yahoo Small Business Hosting, start entering content, and see what it looks like live on the web right away. If you are just beginning to take your business online, this feature makes it a lot easier for you to set up your web site, especially if you are not particularly technically oriented.

As you progress to higher levels of disk space and bandwidth requirement you can upgrade from the Starter plan to the Standard grade plan and the Professional level plan. Most of the basic features such as the scripts, tools and support are offered for all plans – the only major difference is in the amount of bandwidth and disk space that the plans provide.

Merchant Solutions from the Yahoo Small Business Hosting web hosting provider allow you to quickly set up an ecommerce site, allowing you to make sales over the world wide web and sell your products online at any time of the day or night. The Merchant Solutions from Yahoo Small Business Hosting include a store design wizard that lets you put together an ecommerce site to your own specifications, add your products, set up an online shopping cart system and you can even get support from Yahoo Small Business Hosting in marketing your products online.

Sponsored Search from Yahoo Small Business Hosting works together with the Web Hosting and Merchant Solutions that they offer to give you a full package for creating a site and promoting your business online. With sponsored search results you can pay for impressions on customers who enter a search term related to your business and receive listings in the sponsored search results when someone looks for information.

These plans offered by Yahoo Small Business Hosting make it easy for people without technical skills to quickly put together a professional site, all without spending massive amounts of cash.

Web.com Hosting

Posted in Providers on August 11th, 2009 by whf – Be the first to comment

Web.com, formerly Interland, plays right in the smaller enterprise web site space. They offer a basic and an advanced shared web hosting solution, with reasonable pricing and all the features needed. Support is offered 24 by 7 for new Web.com customers, while their “legacy” customers are served during business hours EST.

Their standout features include a gift coupon and web coupon generator for the customer’s web presence. Storage space is less than the competitors’, but the service offering is heavy on marketing and web presence management. Another feature they offer is Verisign payment service as part of the product bundle, an advantage for the more cautious business.

Web.com focuses on individuals and small businesses wanting to set up a web presence, and their strategic partnerships reveal this focus clearly. Their EarthLink relationship is obviously geared to cross-sell their web site products to customers signing up for EarthLink’s internet connection services, for example. In fact, they are collocated in Atlanta, GA.

Web.com is an organization on a rebound after being cash flow negative for a time. Originally Interland, the name change was part of a re-organization of the company. It also involved the sale of a server business that was not crucial to the Web.com brand or service offering. Their new Web.com focus on assisting customers to set up web sites that attract market interest and get linked to other sites seems to be working, with a small but significant customer base growth in the year to date.

While other providers link off to other service providers for website art design and graphics, Web.com bundles all these costs and services into one offering, a one-stop-web-front shop. Their testimonials also reveal the effectiveness of this approach, with quick turnaround time posted clearly.

Web.com is thus best geared for the individual and small business looking for a speedy and effectively designed entry into the web space. Their strength lies in setting up a site that will look professionally and competently laid out.

StartLogic Web Hosting

Posted in Providers on August 11th, 2009 by whf – Be the first to comment

Web Hosting Finds’ Review of StartLogic offerings that include Linux shared, Windows shared, virtual, and dedicated hosting

StartLogic is a web hosting provider that offers a lot: Linux shared, Windows shared, virtual, and dedicated hosting, along with some other services such as search engine optimization. A StartLogic employee said the company was independent, but it seems suspicious that PowWeb and StartLogic have the exact same “additional services” pages at the time of writing. The two companies also offer essentially the same services. Other pages on the two companies’ web sites are also very similar or exactly the same.

For essentially the same price, StartLogic provides double the space and bandwidth that PowWeb does. With their Linux hosting package, StartLogic includes:

  • A free domain name
  • Use of their vDeck control panel
  • A 30 day money back guarantee
  • PHP 4 and 5
  • Web templates and site builders

StartLogic also offers virtual and dedicated servers. Virtual servers can be hard to find and StartLogic offers three different types of virtual private servers starting at around $30 per month. They offer a wide range of dedicated servers ranging from $99 per month at the low end to $349 per month at the high end.

The company offers 24/7 technical support over the phone and live chat. There are plenty of tutorials and knowledge base articles if you find yourself needing additional help as well.

StartLogic hosting provides a wide range of services at a fairly reasonable price.

ServerPronto

Posted in Providers on August 11th, 2009 by whf – Be the first to comment

A review of ServerPronto’s dedicated web hosting that features low cost servers with lots of OS and control panel choices.

ServerPronto.com is different than the company’s usually reviewed here at Webhostingfinds.com because it is a dedicated web hosting provider. They market themselves as the “world’s most affordable dedicated server” and their servers are just that – very cheap.

ServerPronto does back their cheap servers, though. They offer a 99.9% network uptime guarantee. This doesn’t cover the hardware, but does cover the company’s network. They claim to have superior bandwidth and top of the line servers. Before taking any of those agreements and promises to heart, though, be careful to read their terms of service and any other legal documents. It is a good idea to review and understand those before believing any of the marketing speak.

ServerPronto’s pricing and packages is complicated at best. The servers start at $29.95 per month with a $69 setup fee and go all the way up to $249.95 per month with a $149 setup fee. There are lots of addons and extra charges if you want things like cPanel, a managed firewall, or extra bandwidth. Keep in mind that most of those addons and upgrades are standard in the industry – they are not unique to ServerPronto.

Server Pronto

Server Pronto offers a wide range of operating systems:

  • Red Hat
  • Fedora
  • Free BSD
  • Debian
  • Suse
  • Gentoo
  • OpenBSD
  • CentOS
  • Ubuntu
  • Windows (extra fees)

They also offer most of the industry standard control panels (extra fees for all of them except Webmin):

  • Webmin
  • Plesk
  • cPanel
  • Helm

All of ServerPronto’s servers are self-managed, so it is up to you to make the server work. The company mainly offers support over its ticket system and phone calls can be arranged for individual incidents or time periods.

If you want a bare bones dedicated server at a low price, ServerPronto is a good choice.

Get a full dedicated server starting at just $29.95!

PowWeb Hosting

Posted in Providers on August 11th, 2009 by whf – Be the first to comment

Web Hosting Finds’ Review of PowWeb Hosting, a provider of nearly 10 years:

PowWeb Hosting Banner

PowWeb (PowWeb.com) is one of the largest web hosting companies out there. They entered the web hosting scene in 1999 and have grown to become one of the most prominent names in the web hosting industry.

PowWeb claims to utilize load balancing technology. When applied, this technology has the potential to eliminate single points of failure, thus resulting in a more reliable web site. The use of the “grid” makes it so a single server can have a problem without it affecting the web sites on the server.

PowWeb prides itself on its “one plan, one price” mantra. The plan costs $5.77 per month and has no setup fees if you decide to signup for two years. The minimum contract length (3 months) is $7.77 per month with a $30 setup fee.

The one plan includes more than enough space and bandwidth for any web site and makes use of PowWeb’s load balanced technology. Other nice features include with the plan are:

  • SnapShot Instant Click and Restore Daily Backups
  • DNS management
  • Script Instant Installer (which PowWeb says is better than Fantastico)
  • Free domain name included
  • Easy to use site builder

There are plenty of support options at PowWeb. They have 24/7 email, phone, and live chat support. Their community forum has more than 20,000 members. There are lots of tutorials and helpful knowledge base articles for customers to browse and learn.

In addition to regular web hosting, PowWeb offers exchange hosting, which is fairly pricey ($12.95 per month for a 500 MB email account). Other services offered by the company include marketing services and e-commerce services (credit card processing, etc).

PowWeb is a typical budget web hosting provider. They offer fairly good hosting at a reasonable price. If they can really deliver with their load balancing service, the company has the potential to really deliver a superior web hosting service.

Network Solutions Web Hosting

Posted in Providers on August 11th, 2009 by whf – Be the first to comment

Most people probably think of Network Solutions (www.networksolutions.com) as a domain registrar, but in fact, the company is a large one-stop shop that includes web hosting. Network Solutions is a company having the unique ability to boast one of the earliest startup dates in Internet: history: 1979. The “dot com people” claim to be the domain name hosting service pioneers, having 25 years in the business.

As a web hosting provider, Network Solutions supplies everything required for setting up a website with rich functionality, and they describe their server room environment in great detail. Each hosted solution is therefore protected with diesel backup, fire protection and humidity-controlled air conditioning. They’re one of the few service providers who specifically mention their backups.

Pricing offers good value for money, with no real surprises, but the full feature set is on a par with the EarthLink offering and there are enough deeper technical toys to get web developers salivating. In 2006 Network Solutions were certified to an industry standard for call centers, reaching performance levels within the “top 20% of customer service.”

If a business is looking for a domain to purchase, Network Solutions offers a full service. Backordering an existing domain name or making a certified offer can be done by Network Solutions. Domains coming up for expiry can also be searched and booked for purchase, as can names up for deletion. Network Solutions offers an auction format for these domains.

The Network Solutions WHOIS service gives the facility of searching for a particular domain name across multiple registrars. Network Solutions can then supply the information available for the domain of interest, including a thumbnail of the website at that domain.

Our review notes that the Network Solutions’ CEO recently won an award for most effective turnaround CEO, so the organisation is currently riding on a wave of success and improving processes and delivery. Prices are good and there seems to be a lot of energy spent in improving customer service, with a person on the other end of a support call as standard. Service delivery is solid and as mentioned, contains many features.

The Network Solutions web hosting service also offers a limited 30-day money back guarantee, increasing peace of mind, while their Homepage, Starter or Enhanced website packages allow a complete web presence to be built as part of their hosting solutions. It is reassuring to see that Network Solutions has a solid web hosting product suite backed up by their skills in domain name management, should a business be required to negotiate for a key domain for their web presence.

midPhase Web Hosting Review

Posted in Providers on August 11th, 2009 by whf – Be the first to comment

midPhase is not an unheard of name in the web hosting industry. This provider has been serving customer files since 2003. The company has won a plethora of awards from places like WebHostMagazine and CNET. This midPhase review takes a look at the hosting service offerings.

midPhase offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee, a 30 day money back guarantee, and a service quality guarantee. midPhase provides phone support over email and the telephone – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are large and reputable enough where you can feel fairly confident that they will be around when your web site goes down at 2 AM one night. In addition to that level of human powered support, midPhase offers a comprehensive tutorial center, a large knowledge base, and community forums.

midPhase’s inexpensive plans offer more than enough space and bandwidth for any web site. For the administrative web hosting control panel, they use the industry standard cPanel (a demo is available on the midPhase.com web site), which offers:

  • Email (mail accounts, forwarders, auto responders, etc.)
  • FTP (accounts for individual directories, etc.)
  • Easily installable scripts such as web blogs, forums, etc.
  • Statistics to track the amount of visitors your site gets and other information.

midPhase only offers two Linux web hosting plans:

  • Mega-Phase, which starts at $7.95 per month.
  • Pro-Phase, which starts at $11.95 per month.

As a customer, you can also add and upgrade features right from your control panel. midPhase’s basic plans only comes with one MySQL database, so if you foresee yourself needing more than that, be prepared to pay extra.

Our review of midPhase shows they offer a series of web site marketing extras including search engine submission and up to $300 in free ads. The company, which sports a very sleek web site, also offers web design services.

midPhase is an industry leader that has obviously been doing things right since 2003. The company is a good choice for any prospective webmaster who wants a pretty good web host at a pretty good price.

Lunarpages Web Hosting

Lunarpages.com Web Hosting
Lunarpages web hosting took root in the year 2000 and has grown into a large, established web hosting provider with 150,000 clients, 100 employees, several datacenters, a call center and affordable web hosting product offerings.

Like many web hosting providers these days, Lunarpages accounts are administered through a control panel or cPanel, one of the most popular software scripts for managing a web hosting account. Similar to it’s implementation with other web hosting providers like BlueHost and HostGator, the panel gives web hosting account holders a graphical interface to install a features and perform necessary site owner tasks (too many components to list here).

Lunarpages web hosting has clearly made customer retention a goal. The provider points out that a very important area of concentration is supporting customer needs. And, if you have ever owned a Web site and hosted it somewhere, you will very likely understand the importance of responsiveness when something goes wrong. There is nothing worse than the feeling of helplessness experienced when your site is down and no one is available to help or seems to care. Each Lunarpages web hosting plan provides 24-hour toll-free customer support, membership to Lunarpages forums, and tools that can make life easier for maintaining your Web site.

What types of web hosting plans are available?

Lunarpages web hosting offers shared plans ranging from $6.95 to dedicated plans at $99.00. Here is a list of the major plans offered now (see Web site for details):

  • Basic Web Hosting
  • Windows Web Hosting
  • Linux Virtual Private Servers
  • Business Web Hosting
  • Dedicated Web Hosting
  • Windows Virtual Private Servers
  • Reseller Web Hosting

Lunarpages web hosting plans are at the forefront of industry standards, and their most popular Basic Web Hosting package is a competitive with other cPanel hosts at $6.95/month. It includes:

  • 1500GB storage
  • 15000GB bandwidth
  • $700 in Coffee Cup Software
  • Free Domain Name for Life
  • Special Offer on Web hosting Transfers $2.99 Domain Registrations
  • Frontpage extensions
  • MySQL
  • PHP
  • PERL
  • ASP
  • Python
  • JSP

Reading through the Lunarpages site and lively blog, one gets the feeling that there is truth in the Lunarpages statement “We truly love what we do.” Having tested the Lunarpages shared hosting, we can say with confidence that we are happy with the service and support.

IX Web Hosting

Posted in Providers on August 11th, 2009 by whf – Be the first to comment

X Web Hosting is a sizable web hosting company that claims to host more than 200,000 domains from their Kentucky datacenter. Their CEO’s message says they have more than 130 full time employees.

IX Web Hosting offers both Linux and Windows hosting plans. Their main three plans are below:

  • Expert – $3.95 / month
  • Business – $6.95 / month
  • Unlimited – $12.95 / month

All of the plans have very generous with resource allocations (they start at 600 GB of space and 6,000 GB of data trasnfer) and offer more than enough for pretty much any web site. As with any company, be weary of their claim to offer “unlimited” space. Each plan comes with the expected features such as unlimited subdomains, email, databases, developer support, etc.

IX Web Hosting’s web site is informative, but cluttered. There is a lot of information, plenty of FAQs and tutorials, and many explanations. They have a helpful video tutorial that takes new customers through the order process and they have plenty of video tutorials to guide you through the basics of creating and operating a web site.

The control panel offered to IX Web Hosting customers is clunky, but useful. Their web site offers a free demo that potential customers can explore and play with. The control panel, which is called H-Sphere, offers all the expected features of competitors like cPanel, but looks antiquated. It does not use any Web 2.0 like features such as AJAX and has 1998-esque graphics.

IX Web Hosting offers 24/7 technical support over their ticket system, the phone, and live chat. The company takes pride in the fact that they don’t outsource their support staff and provide plenty of ways to get in touch.

In addition to web hosting, IX Web Hosting offers:

  • Web design services starting at $995
  • Credit card processing services that allows you to take major credit cards
  • Discounts for advertising and marketing

They have a range of marketing incentives and addons that are offered with their plans and these can be very useful to a new webmaster looking to get his or her business started.

For casual site builders looking for a fairly good host with a fair range of products and services, IX Web Hosting is probably a good choice.

iPowerWeb Hosting Provider

Posted in Providers on August 11th, 2009 by whf – Be the first to comment

Geared toward business hosting

iPowerWeb.com has recently been recognized as one of the fastest growing web hosting companies, and they provide you with a lot of great features. Their web hosting provider services are mostly geared towards business clients – i.e. people who want to set up ecommerce sites and web sites for their companies on the world wide web. With this iPowerWeb hosting review I hope to give you a sense of what iPowerWeb hosting has to offer you and your business.

While it has only been in existence for a couple of years, iPowerWeb web hosting is already able to boast that it has hosted over seven hundred thousand web sites. Obviously iPowerWeb is doing something right.

Their front page site provides you with links to content packages and promotion packages for both new clients and transfer clients, so a good part of iPowerWeb hosting’s business clearly comes from people who have transferred their web hosting from other service providers and are looking for a better web hosting experience. A review of the iPowerWeb  advertising reveals that all of their web hosting services include:

  • Excellent service
  • Marketing content
  • Dynamic content

The web hosting plans on iPowerWeb hosting also offer you free setup (i.e. no additional start up charges or hidden charges over and above the relatively inexpensive monthly rates), free WHOIS domain name privacy, and a money back guarantee! All in all, iPowerWeb hosting makes it easy for you to try out their web hosting service, see if you like it, and decide whether or not it is the best web hosting provider for you before you finish committing to your purchase.

They also offer free credit towards Google AdWords with their hosting packages, which makes it possible for you to get started promoting your site through Google with advertising dollars and save money at the same time! You also get even more advertising dollars now for Yahoo Search Marketing Credit so that you can get your web site listed in Yahoo Sponsored Search Results without having to pay for it.

Domain registration and basic web hosting and Windows hosting plans through iPowerWeb hosting are relatively inexpensive – each one costing less than ten dollars a month. The dedicated server plans from iPowerWeb web hosting are more expensive and can be expected to offer you higher data transfer speeds and a lot more disk space on state of the art Hewlett Packard web servers.

With a dedicated server plan you can start small and grow big with network availability that is guaranteed to be at 99.9%, as well as multiple datacenter locations and continuous monitoring and hands on services so that you can always receive service to help you with your account.

The iPowerWeb hosting provider has expanded recently from being one of the world’s biggest shared web hosting providers to taking aim at the dedicated server market for business, and with the great features and level of service that they offer, along with their money back guarantee, you can afford to check out their plans.

IPower Web Hosting

Posted in Providers on August 11th, 2009 by whf – Be the first to comment

Review of IPower

IPower web hosting is a web hosting provider that offers you the quality of service that has allowed them to host over seven hundred thousand web sites so far. The IPower web hosting plans are largely in the less than ten dollar price range, and you can get a lot of great features with your web hosting plans that allow you to have the kind of site that you need with flexibility to use current scripts and design elements without having to have a lot of advanced technical skills.

Besides the basic web hosting plans that IPower web hosting offers for Shared Hosting, they also have Virtual and Dedicated Servers on offer for people who want a more advanced experience. With their Shared Hosting, IPower web hosting offers three basic plans:

  • The IPower Starter Plan
  • The IPower Pro Plan
  • The IPower Pro Plus

Of these, only the IPower Pro Plus plan goes over ten dollars. The two versions of the Pro plan, in addition to a fair (though on the somewhat small side) amount of disk space and bandwidth, offer you Google and Yahoo credit for advertising on their respective web ad programs.

The cash value that is offered to you for these advertising sources more than makes up for the slight additional monthly price in the more advanced plans, so if you are building a web site that is only for your friends and family you might want to go with the Starter plan, but it is basically just there to provide a lowest option – most people who are serious about creating a web site that will receive regular visitors are going to want to go with the higher plans so that they can take advantage of the advertising dollars and get the discount.

The Virtual Server and Dedicated Server plans that IPower web hosting provides allow you to get a much more full featured web hosting experience, with a lot more disk space, data transfer, and burstable RAM which keeps your web site running smoothly even during periods of high traffic. IP addresses are included in both the virtual server and dedicated server plans, so that you can have your own IP address and a more professional, stable and secure presentation for your web site.

While the Virtual Server and Dedicated Server plans from IPower web hosting are considerably more pricey than the Shared Hosting plans (which are on the downright cheap side), the level of quality that you can come to expect from these plans in today’s environment of strong competition between web hosting providers, means that you should be able to enjoy all of the reliability, scalability and features that you want to put together a quality web site and get professional results.

I hope that this IPower web hosting review has given you a good feeling for the kind of web hosting options that are available from IPower and that I have helped you come closer to a decision for your next source of hosting on the world wide web!

InMotion Hosting

Posted in Providers on August 11th, 2009 by whf – Be the first to comment

A Business Web hosting provider with lots of options

InMotion Hosting offers a full range of web hosting options for people of all kinds – whether you are looking to create your first personal web site or a fully featured business site on dedicated hosting, InMotion web hosting gives you the tools and support that you need with plans that span the full price range and feature range of hosting on the world wide web. This InMotion review should give you a sense of what InMotion has to offer as a web hosting provider.

From the front page of InMotion Hosting’s site you can see that they offer great prices for their most basic plans, as well as the more expensive prices that I have seen for dedicated server plans. Clearly, you can get a full range of services from InMotion. Their most basic personal / cheap hosting is offered for less than five dollars a month, practically nothing at all to get a basic site for your friends and family set up.

Business class hosting is offered for not much more (still less than ten dollars a month) and offers such additional features over the Basic Hosting as daily backups, bigger attachment sizes, more SPAM protection, additional bandwidth providers, more payment options and a longer termed money back guarantee.

InMotion Hosting’s Virtual Private Servers occupy the middle ground in the web hosting price range, and the feature that they offer you include:

  • Burstable Memory
  • RAID 5 Fault Tolerant Disk Space
  • SSH Access
  • Individual Custom Firewalls
  • Separate Web Sites with no Setup Fees
  • Unlimited Parked Domains

Even more features, such as dedicated IP addresses and comprehensive technical support with critical backups, let you enjoy the highest level of data security and reliability from your servers.

The Dedicated Server plans from InMotion Hosting occupy the highest price range, and are about twice as expensive as many other plans offered by web hosting providers – The stats on the machines that InMotion Hosting offers for their Dedicated Servers are truly excellent, however, and they offer RAID 1 data protection to keep you from ever losing any of your important files.

Plenty of disk space and a premium monthly transfer allowance lets you have a popular and highly trafficked web site without having to worry about technical malfunctions making things run slowly, or bandwidth running out when you need to have your site up and running.

With all of its plans, InMotion Hosting offers great technical support so that you can have the kind of web site that you want and be up and running in no time. If there are problems with your site, the staff of InMotion Hosting will help you to get things running again, restore data from backups, set up and configure your scripts, and so on until you get the results that you need from your web hosting.

InMotion Web Hosting has a great money back guarantee for its various plans, so you can safely check out InMotionHosting.com today and see what other kinds of features they offer for yourself.

Host Monster Web Hosting

Posted in Providers on August 11th, 2009 by whf – Be the first to comment

Here’s our Review of Host Monster Web Hosting:

HostMonster BannerHost Monster (www.HostMonster.com) is very similar to Dot5Hosting and to a lesser extent, IX Web Hosting. The provider is a bare bones hosting company that focuses on just web hosting. Host Monster began doing business in 1996 and seems to focus very intently on shared web hosting – they offer no other services besides domain registration. It is worth noting that the same individual who owns BlueHost also owns Host Monster.

Host Monster’s single hosting plan starts at $5.95 per month if you signup for 24 months (the pricing is hidden in the signup process and a knowledge base article). If you wish to sign up for a shorter period of time, there are setup fees and the price goes up to $7.95 per month. The plan comes with some nice features including:

  • Ability to host unlimited domain names
  • Drag and drop site builder
  • 100 MySQL and PostgreSQL databases
  • Shell Access (SSH)
  • Fantastico
  • $50 each in Google and Yahoo ad credits
  • PHP 5
  • Ruby on Rails

Host Monster supports their plans with 24/7 support over the telephone and online. This web hosting provider prides itself on its support, but the only way to get a feel for it is to be a customer. Each situation is unique and the provider can handle them all differently. Host Monster’s one plan comes with plenty of space and bandwidth and they even promise to help you move over from your old host.

Host Monster is essentially a lesser known BlueHost that offers more space and bandwidth for slightly more money. The company is a good choice for someone who wants a fairly standard, but still very powerful hosting setup at a reasonable price.

See the official Host Monster site at www.HostMonster.com for more details.

HostRocket Web Hosting

With this HostRocket review, I hope to give you a sense of the features and plans that this web hosting provider has to offer. HostRocket web hosting provides a number of plans that are geared towards the less expensive end of the market: the deals for web hosting that HostRocket advertises on the front page of their web site are under ten dollars per month.

Their plans come with “unlimited bandwidth,” though in practice if a site gets to the point that it is taking up too much bandwidth you would probably be asked to upgrade plans or change to another web hosting provider. More realistic for people getting into using the world wide web is HostRocket’s ability to support up to 10 web sites on one hosting plan, which is more than enough for the average customer and lets you experiment with different domains and sites easily until you find the ones that you like the best.

The general areas of plans that HostRocket provides for customers include:

  • Shared Hosting
  • Reseller Hosting
  • Dedicated Hosting
  • Web Design

Shared hosting is the typical path that people take when they need to host their web site on a small budget, or when someone is just starting to get interested in making their own web site and need a good way to start experimenting. Shared hosting plans mean that your site is hosted on the same physical server as other web sites – this is usually made completely transparent to the user, with the ability to set your own domain name and log into your web site account as if you are the only person on.

HostRocket web hosting provides different prices for different time periods and gives you a range of options all costing around ten dollars a month or less. They provide hundreds of pre-installed scripts that you can use to get your web page looking and working great in no time, including programs such as Frontpage, and support for PHP, Javascript, integrated bulletin boards, MySQL, Perl, and lots of other web technologies.

Reseller Hosting programs give you more limitations on your storage space and bandwidth, with prices that are somewhat higher, but they allow you to resell server space to make a profit. HostRocket’s reseller hosting programs include features such as unlimited domains, unlimited subdomains, unlimited databases, unlimited FTP accounts and unlimited email accounts.

The Dedicated Hosting programs that HostRocket offers guarantee 99.5% server uptime, and continuous technical support that you can access any time of the day or night, any day of the week. While the prices are in the more expensive range, this indicates that you are more likely to receive a quality degree of service from HostRocket with their dedicated plans.

Finally, HostRocket will provide you with a free design quote through their site after you fill out a web design questionnaire, and if you are just getting started with your web site design and don’t know the technical aspects of building a site you can have one designed for you.

All of these features may make HostRocket an interesting choice for hosting your next Web site.

Hosting with a Bite

It is with a smile that I write this HostGator web hosting review – HostGator (www.hostgator.com) products are named for the stages an alligator’s children go through – “hatchling”, “baby” and “swamp”. The top of the line hosted product is the semi-dedicated. All products are differentiated on disk size ad bandwidth, as all share most of the same features. The HostGator offering seems to be developer friendly with access to scripts and other technical tools for web development. HostGator offers a reseller option, allowing clients to resell web hosting services to their own clients. This is done by granting the reseller access to a HostGator tool for setting up websites and in turn, granting the customer the ability to set up their own website. This tool-based automation of the setup process makes things easier for resellers who administer a large number of web hosting customers.

Prices are in the higher range of hosting costs. This is almost certainly guaranteed to mean that you will get what you pay for, as the web hosting market is very competitive and posting high prices for possible customers runs against the marketing trends. In my humble opinion (and that’s all it is) the higher prices are probably due to the use of more dedicated servers to ensure that reseller web sites can be adequately served.

Reseller packages are offered in aluminum copper silver gold and diamond, with similar prices offered for similar packages for just a straight web hosting solution. The answer here is to become a reseller. As a reseller, the web site hosting costs offered are entirely up to the reseller and so some of the cost overhead going to HostGator can be offset. The HostGator reseller offering is perfect for web designers and graphic designer serving a web site design market, and would allow other companies to bundle hosted web sites in with their own digital product and product lines.

Something to note about HostGator is the definite “techie” feel they give, and this is borne out by their integrity – they post both good and bad user testimonials. The prospective customer is able to read the resolution of customer problems and support calls online. Positive and negative customer reviews/feedback is noted as such and so it’s a simple matter to check on the HostGator support. If it’s as good as it looks, the HostGator hosting solution is worth every penny.

Homestead.com’s Web Hosting & Website Building Tool

Build a website in minutes. Free trial!

You may remember Homestead from your early days of playing around on the internet. The company has been a big name on the internet for a long time. The company was started way back in 1996 and they are still going strong. At the end of 2007 Homestead was purchased by Intuit, the makers of TurboTax and QuickBooks, as part of their strategy to offer more to small businesses.

Build a Professional Looking Website with Homestead.com.

Homestead’s goal is to provide small businesses with an easy way to achieve success online. You can read about the history of the company here http://www.homestead.com/~site/hslo/about/abouthomestead.ffhtml and its creed here http://www.homestead.com/~site/hslo/about/creed.ffhtml.

Instead of paying several thousand dollars for a web site, Homestead’s small business customers can get their own domain set up with nice design for as little as $5 per month. ($10 after the introductory pricing runs out.) Higher levels of service range up to $50 or so per month, a bargain compared to what you’d spend otherwise. The key to their offering is that it is reliable, easy to use, and feature rich.

Homestead Web Hosting offers 2,000 templates for over 100 different industries. Subscribers get their own domain name, emails at that domain, access to 250,000 free images; easy set up of a PayPal cart; automatic submission to search engines like Google; and easy installation of blogs, forums, audio, and video on their drag n’ drop site. Homestead provides excellent customer support.

When Forbes named Homestead one of its “Best of the Web” the called it “A Web site building tool for the technically unsavvy. The drag-and-drop software lets you create a Web presence with minimal pain.”

GoDaddy Web Hosting

Posted in Providers on August 10th, 2009 by whf – Be the first to comment

GoDaddy web hosting (www.godaddy.com) delivers the essentials riding on the success of GoDaddy’s domain name registration service. Along with their snappy name, the company has a host of awards to its credit, placing it securely in the leader’s niche in domain name and domain management. This expertise makes it a no-brainer that GoDaddy should host customer web sites too. Here’s your domain, sir, and here’s the website to back it up.

Like BlueHost, GoDaddy’s CEO posts on his own blog. The infamous Bob Parsons is definitely up to speed in the domain name business, and is a leader in addressing issues and abuses in the industry. Like Bob Parson’s clear and no-nonsense approach to his writing, the GoDaddy shared web hosting offerings are simple and no-nonsense products. Extras can be paid for, like a blog engine and upgrades, and prices are clearly stated. The company offers a “sweet-spot” hosting solution with a best-value bundle, clearly marked if one browses around their site a little.

All the basic features are there–disk space, traffic, email accounts, with more databases under management than other hosted solutions–10 for the entry level product. Interestingly, web site statistics are an extra to be paid for, allowing the basic home user who just wants a site to be able to save a few dollars. A slight negative is their unconventional quoting of disk and traffic data sizes in MB rather than in GB, giving at first glance, an impression of more data than is actually supplied. Apart from this, the quotes and web site are also simple and clear. I enjoyed the access to information and the ease of use attention that has obviously been put in.

GoDaddy is a hosting provider targeting the low-cost portion of the market and their service offering does not disappoint, with a basic starting site cost of $3.99 per month. With 50 GB of disk space this is certainly a generous service offering!

GoDaddy has focused on its customer take on too – with a 24 by 7 account setup service. They also offer 24 by 7 telephonic support. GoDaddy provides a very different service level too: 24 by 7 support for billing queries. This makes their customer service channel one of the more complete support offerings available.

GoDaddy provides all the web hosting features offered by competitors, and they then crown this off by bringing their domain and deep internet technology savvy to the party. For technical peace-of-mind from a strong registrar, GoDaddy is the choice for many.

“Always up. Fast and Easy”

“Globat” Web Hosting provides new users of the world wide web with the help that they need to put together a great first web site – however, they also have the ability to help experienced web masters with their sites, running a brisk business in customers looking for change hosts. So far, Globat web hosting is trusted by over one hundred thousand web sites, and they have the experience that you need to get the kind of web site that you want without costing you a lot of money. Let’s take a look at what this well known web host has to offer with this Globat review.

For people who are new to web hosting, Globat web hosting provides a number of standard features for their web hosting plans. These are features such as:

  • Free domain registration
  • Unlimited email accounts
  • A free site builder tool that lets you put together a web site from templates
  • Customer support which is accessible to you 24/7
  • And a 30 day money back guarantee (you don’t have to worry about anything but putting together the site that you want – if you change your mind and don’t think that the service is up to par you can get your money back and try another provider)

Globat web hosting offers a TeraByte Xtreme web hosting plan which gives you an amazing amount of disk space and transfer allowance for a price which is less than ten dollars a month. It is really incredible how much they are able to offer even for their lowest grade web hosting plans!

For about three times as much (still not a whole lot, as normal web hosting package prices go), you can get the TeraByte X 5 web hosting package, which gives you – you guessed it: five times as much disk space. You also get twice the bandwidth in the bigger package, and the ability to host a lot more domains (as well as unlimited subdomains).

Some of the basic features that you get with either type of hosting plan from Globat web hosting are unlimited email accounts, free site setup so that you do not have to pay extra hidden fees, a site builder with templates (as listed above) which lets you plan out a great web site and other free software such as

  • blogging software
  • shopping cart software for ecommerce
  • support for FTP
  • CGI
  • PHP
  • Perl

In addition to their great web hosting plans, which let you get an amazing amount of disk space and bandwidth for prices which are easily comparable to the prices of other web hosting provider companies out there, you can get web design assistance from Globat web hosting to help you make your first web site look great according to the current modern standards of web design.

I hope this Globat review has convinced you to take a good look at www.globat.com the next time that you are looking for a provider to host a site!

FatCow Web Hosting

Moo ‘ve over, other web hosting providers

FatCow Web Hosting: $99 Plan FatCow (www.fatcow.com) is a web hosting provider with plans and features which are geared to the budget web hosting market. If you are putting together a web site that is new and you do not have much traffic yet, or if you are just starting to experiment with web design and want an easy way to get started, FatCow web hosting might be the right web hosting provider for you. This FatCow web hosting review will give you a sense of what FatCow web hosting has to offer.

Since 1998, FatCow web hosting has provided their basic plan – called the Fat Cow, this plan is sold in yearly installments and gives you a converted monthly price which is well under ten dollars. Plenty of disk space and data transfer is provided for a small or medium sized site. Features which come with the Fat Cow plan include:

  • Tools to create your site
  • Scripts for blogs, forums and other popular kinds of web site features
  • Wizards for adding open source applications
  • Unlimited e-mail accounts
  • An ecommerce store builder to make putting together an online store quick and easy
  • A 30-day money back guarantee

The FatCow web hosting company also provides another basic option called MiniMoo. With the MiniMoo plan, you can reserve a domain name for your web site, put up an “under construction” front page, and have a working email address for the web site so that you can begin to get the word out and see what kind of responses you get to the idea.

While most people will probably just want to go straight to the Fat Cow plan for their web hosting, the MiniMoo plan at least lets you begin to set up your site and gives you the option of upgrading whenever you want to and building the full site on the same domain. For people who are just starting to float an idea for an online site or a business and who want to start testing the waters, the MiniMoo hosting plan might be the right way for them to reserve the things that they need to get started with the full design of the site whenever they feel like taking the next step.

After you get your basic Fat Cow hosting plan, the FatCow web hosting company allows you to “beef it up” with additional email accounts, disk space, bandwidth and so on. Instead of other web hosting provider plans, which generally give you tiers of features that upgrade everything at once, the FatCow web hosting plans let you individually upgrade your disk space, bandwidth, and email accounts with small payments for each, giving you a higher degree of flexibility.

For web site owners who are looking for a simple web hosting solution that offers flexibility and a wealth of modern features, FatCow web hosting may be the right choice. Set up a new web site using the MiniMoo or Fat Cow hosting plans and upgrade it piecemeal as you see fit.
